Fight broke out after former Gamecocks objected to group smoking marijuana inside nightclub, according to report

Staff reports
Posted: Monday, April 21, 2014 6:28 p.m.,

Two former South Carolina football players involved in a fight at a New York City nightclub earlier this month were opposed to a group allegedly smoking marijuana in the establishment, according to a report Monday.

Former Gamecocks cornerback Victor Hampton and defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles were wanted for questioning last week regarding the incident that left one man injured, according to reports. The New York Post, citing anonymous sources, reported Monday the fight was in disagreement to another group allegedly smoking pot in the establishment.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. April 11 at the Greenhouse nightclub in New York City, according to The Post. Former South Carolina receiver Bruce Ellington and defensive end Chaz Sutton were with Hampton and Quarles at the club, according to The State newspaper.

No charges have been filed, and New York Police Department information officer Lee Jones told The State he is unsure if any charges will be filed.

In a separate incident, Jones said Sutton was "stabbed with an unknown object," according to The State. Jones said the wound was minor, and Sutton refused medical treatment. Sutton told The State he was not "cut in any way."

Quarles and Sutton have said they were not at the club at any point during their trip to New York.

Greenhouse was shut down this weekend and may never reopen after being raided by police for having too many customers and blasting music too loud, according to The Post.

I completely believe this story

Dudes were bogarting the green. That's grounds for a fight if I've ever heard of one.

10 bucks says they tried to slide in on the rotation and dude told them no and hurt their feelings for being moochers.

That seems like a perfectly legit reason to bash someone's face in with a hookah to me.
