Living in Lexington and working in columbia I listen to

Feb 8, 2019, 9:47 AM

the local sports talk shows. I prefer Teddy and Rick in the morning b/c they aren't as biased.
Anyways, I just can't for the life of me understand Teddy's take on the game when he says Alabama abandoned the run. They ran the whole game. They're down 31-16 coming out to start the 2nd half running the ball, then down 37-16 they are STILL running the ball. Teddy also says the Oline didn't dominate FOR ONE REASON (rushing yardage) Really Teddy? We didnt HAVE to run the ball and when we did ETN was pretty darn successful. Our Oline absolutly DOMINATED the job they were asked to do. They gave Trevor time all night. All night

the end zone. Also, how many sacks did our OL give up that night?

His first touchdown was incredible. Eighteen or nineteen yards I believe. Sounds like he had some kind of hole to get through.

Also look at the pocket the OL created on the shovel pass we scored a touchdown on.

Our OL played as close to a perfect game as a team can against Bama IMO. We gave up no sacks, and I believe ETN averaged over 6 yards a carry, and we averaged 4.4 as a team. I realize this Bama defense wasn't considered as dominant as some of their past defenses, but it was still a very good defense filled with NFL talent. Even Georgia averaged only 3.9 yards on the ground against Bama.

You also don't run out the final 10:02 of the game without the OL doing a great job.

Bama ran the ball all season only AFTER getting a huge lead throwing the ball.

They didn't pound the run early in games like previous Bama teams.

Comments like that guy made show a lack of knowledge from the entire season.

They are taking a snapshot of the game compared to what they THINK they know about Bama.

Also it's hard to keep running the ball when you are getting beat by 3-4 scores in the second half of a game.

I'm not sure I'd say they abandoned the run, but some of their play-calling in the redzone was questionable. On their field goal they got the ball down to the 1 yard line and had it moved back to the 6 after a false start to set up 2nd down. They then attempted two straight passes. That itself isn't all that questionable due to the false start penalty.

The first drive of the 2nd half they move the ball down to our 26 yard line for a 1st and 10 with only 14 of those yards coming from the pass. They then attempted 3 straight passes before the fake field goal.

The next drive after that they attempted only 2 runs for 11 yards prior to the Tua run that was stopped on 4th down.

By the next drive the game was 44-16, but we did stop them on 3 straight runs from the 1 yard line.

Overall, they probably could've had more success on the ground, but the score of the game prevented them from doing so.

The Tua to Jeudy deep game opened up the run.

Feb 8, 2019, 10:19 AM

When the field got short nature took that away by bringing Clemson defenders closer to the LOS. Proof? Bama had 0 (zero) rushing touchdowns. Even their shuttle pass failed.

When someone points this out it becomes obvious. Perhaps you could call that show and explain it to them. Tell them it came from a guy who never played the game, knows exactly jack about x's and o's and has no interest in learning about it either.

Oh i tried. I told him everything you and 2003 both said. He is too stubborn and self righteous. Since I couldn't get the point across to him the first time i gave up. No reason to argue with stupid

After looking it up, I'm still not clear on the correct terminology.

https://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?t=18318

According to this, I agree their QB is a DA, but don't think he was falling backwards... so, probably not "shuttle."

I don't believe there was any music played during the actual play, so probably not "shuffle" either, unless the receiver had some song playing in his head.

So, I'm going with "shovel" as the correct term. Although, "shuckle" wasn't one of the options, I believe it would be a good addition to tNet lingo especially if you like oysters. But, what do I know.
