Liquor sales on Sunday yea or nay?

I’m a Christian who drinks on occasion. So my views on this may not be in line with a lot of Christians.
They sell beer and wine on Sunday. They sell liquor in bars on Sunday. So what am I missing? If a liquor store does not want to open on Sunday then don’t. I’ve heard a lot of liquor store owners oppose opening on Sunday.
Btw. Jesus turned water in to wine not sweet tea.

You don't have to be religious to think murder and stealing are bad. There's no reason for banning Sunday alcohol sales that isn't religious in nature.

Well if not for “religion” hate the word. Religion means 100 different things. Let me go with the Bible why would murder, stealing, adultery be wrong. You state you can still know it is wrong. Why would it be wrong?
Just questions not personally attacking your thoughts.
Also there are 7 days in a week. Use 6 to buy beer and liquor and if your state does not want to open liquor stores on Sunday move to a state more in line with what you want. There are 50 and all are supposed to govern themselves one most likely will be able to accommodate about anything you want.

Has something to do with religion, but in fact most religions and most civil authorities have rightly concluded that stealing and killing run counter to the interests of societies as a whole.
Liquor sales on Sunday are the remnants of other "day of rest" or blue laws relating back to the commandment to remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy, including no work on the Sabbath, at least in the sense of making a living work. Most of those have been abandoned in the last fifty years because the demands of commerce were deemed more important than Old Testament doctrine where buying and selling is not harmful in itself, and folks can always cease work activities on Sunday or Saturday if they choose. Liquor sales have been slow to change because of prohibition stigma, the dangers of drunk driving and addiction-but of course folks can freely drink any other day of the week and on Sunday if they only have the foresight to buy their booze during the rest of the week.
Other states as close as Maryland sell booze in grocery stores every day and last I checked their DUI cases and fatalities were no worse than SC.
Not sure it makes a real difference, although I hope Clemson never permits sales in the stadium of any alcohol. Anyone who has ever been to a night game at Bill Brice sober realizes there is no need to encourage people to top off their binge drinking with stuff they did not bring with them-and it makes the lines to the bathrooms even longer.

Exodus 20:8-10: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates."
So, keeping the sabbath "holy" IS actually in the Ten Commandments.
That being said, I'm not a religious person, I have worked on Sundays, drank on Sundays, smoked on a Sunday, shopped on Sundays, bought a chicken sandwich on a Sunday (no, not THERE) and even fornicated prior to marriage on a Sunday. I say open the liquor stores 24/7, sell liquor in the grocery stores, and let us order liquor through the mail.

It's a decoration. You cannot use the 10 Commandments to enforce modern laws. Are you gonna throw someone in jail for looking at his neighbors wife and coveting? That's ludicrous. Laws against Theft and murder are pervasive in all cultures and all religions, basic stuff, however, if a judge sentences a man to jail for coveting his neighbors goods, it's the judge that should be arrested.

Our laws essentially are all drawn up to protect people's rights to what they own, pure and simple. Honoring thy mother and father, adultery, worshiping other gods - we don't have laws enforcing or protecting those aspects of the Ten Commandments, because they are not crimes against another's property.
The Ten Commandments is a great code to live by for sure - harmony at home and in one's community, along with a rich spiritual core to operate from.

Though there’s no conclusive evidence, it’s assumed by many scholars that Jesus did indeed produce the miracle on the 7th day (Sunday for us). Keeping in mind that the Jewish sabbath is Saturday.

I know the non taxable brand is available for sale 7 days a week. No need to go to ABC store when better liquor available purchased 12 quarts at a time. Just need a mouses ear of the good stuff….LOL

The only holy day decreed by God is the Sabbath as it is one of the commandments He gave to Moses. Christ kept the Sabbath by resting while dead in the tomb and rising the next day. Those who placed His body there left before the Sabbath's onset to obseve its requirements instead of keeping vigil. Sunday worship is more of a tradition began by the early churches, possibly the Catholic church. Have read that Sunday was a day of worship or festival by the early Greeks of their sun god.

As a Christian, I don't really care when liquor is sold.
I also don't have a problem with liquor being sold or not being sold on Sunday.
All laws are legislated morality. The way I look at it, only drunks drink so much that they run out on Sunday. Any responsible drinker will have an adequate supply.
IMO, no liquor sales on Sunday is a good way to slightly sober up the drinks for work on Monday. Even though they will get drunk again Monday night.
I don't think not selling a non-perishable commodity one day of the week unduly inconveniences anyone.

My concern is Government interference. We are a free society that has to be careful in regards to Government and Religion. The law doesn't bother me but these kind of laws can lead to more Government control.

Agree. It's a legal product. I don't drink, but don't understand what business of government it is of the state to dictate such a law.
The same goes for hunting which while allowed just a few years ago on private land in SC is still not allowed on public WMA and NF land. This is true despite fishing, golf, yard work, even potentially running a marathon having been legal forever as far as I know.
I agree Sunday is probably best to rest and spend time with family but why should the government make such arbitrary choices for us. Six days should be enough to have the liquor cabinet stocked or to go afield, but it should not be the government's business to dictate this.
It's even more stupid that one can buy as many cases of beer and wine on Sunday in most locales, but not hard liquor.

Seems pretty simple doesn't it?
The question should be why are our state politicians wasting time debating something like this when they should be looking at real problems. I believe this is Todd Rutherford's deal by the way, which is no surprise.
The big chain stores like Total Wine stand to benefit more than anyone else and i think they are driving this. They're slowly but surely putting the mom and pop corner stores out of business around the lowcountry.

I still recall what a secret thrill it was as a very young child, when my parents would visit my Uncle down in Charleston, and we would go shopping at Sam Solomon, which was a Jewish owned store, and just so happened to be the only store allowed to open on Sunday under the old Blue Laws, since the Jewish Sabbath is Saturday.
