Kelly Bryant's passing ability

Dec 11, 2015, 2:06 PM

Has anyone witnessed Bryant's passing ability for good or bad?

I have seen him throw it fifty yards down field, the run and catch it for a td.

True story. ;)

He also centered, held, and kicked the XP. They counted

He hasn't been given much of a chance in games this year. I've yet to see him complete a difficult pass that gives me any type of confidence.

I hope he's not just a "Nick Marshall" type QB, excellent runner but mediocre passer. That can only get you so far.

Like to the national championship game?

That's pretty far

The throws I've seen him make are usually short passes but quick and accurate for the most part. Unfortunately just like any QB who hasn't had a chance to throw the deep ball very much will not be accurate at first. But I have faith in the young man's skill set and I think he will shine when the opportunity presents itself. GO TIGERS!!!

Bryant wasn't ready and needed to be redshirted this season. Our lack of a quality backup QB just thrusted him into that role. I wouldn't judge Bryant by anything that we saw this season.

Yeah...maybe.

You look at him and he's got a live arm, and of course he's a better athlete even than Watson - bigger, faster, all that - but quite frankly he's a crappy college passer right now.

He's got zero presence or confidence in the pocket, he doesn't seem to see or understand coverages, and he's certainly not going through a progression or got any sense of timing or chemistry going. As a pure passer I hate to say it, I wouldn't rate him much higher than the Chickens' Lorenzo Nunez at the moment. Basically, Bryant is a raw but uber-talented guy who will develop as well as his work ethic and the coaching he gets allows. But he is not Deshaun Watson, who was ready to dominate in college right out of high school.

I'd rate him maybe a "3" or "4" at best out of 10 as a passer right now. Just my own opinion, while I think he's a super-talented guy with an NFL ceiling if he develops to that ceiling, I also think he's going to have to bring his lunch and really, really put in the work on both the film room and the practice field if he wants to hold off Zerrick Cooper, who IMHO is a much more polished passer and at least close to as athletic as Bryant is. Cooper is close to being another Watson, IMHO, just off what I see of his high school film.

He threw for 6235 yards in high school and had 70 touchdowns if that counts for anything.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah give him time to develop, he'll be solid.

If not, we've still got Israel and others coming in.
