when I can.
Just made it home following the fusion surgery. Hands are still a little shaky from the anesthesia, but otherwise, pain meds have not worn off yet, so feeling ok at present. I am sure that will change later on this evening. Thanks for all the prayers, I am a strong believer in the Power of Prayer. I am sure they had a lot to do with me coming through this surgery will no immediate ill effects.
Some of these post surgery instructions are pretty funny.
No violent twisting motions (specifically mentions golf swings) for six weeks following surgery. (Since they told me the fusion takes mimimum three months, I ain't getting NEAR a golf club until after then.)
Avoid housework like vacuuming or sweeping. OK, pretty sure I can handle that one.
You may resume NONVIGOROUS sex 7 to 10 days out from surgery. (LOL, and LOL again. Somebody would have to 'splain to me what NONvigorous sex is. )
You may experience pain near the surgical site for up to two weeks following surgery, but then should go away. (If pain goes away two weeks after surgery, this thing will have been a SMASHING success!)
No sleeping on stomach. I am a rotund (ok, FAT) man. Goes without saying, I do not sleep on ye olde stomach anyway. I think I can handle that one.
Mainly, it says, WALK, WALK, WALK. That is the only physical therapy to be done until followup in June. See previous sentence. Butt, if I must walk to get better, walk I will.

Add to your list: stool softener.
I recently had a minor surgery and taking a stool softener was on their list. The surgery had nothing to do with that area or anything in the digestive tract. The nurse laughingly said it was to prevent straining.
