Possible Unpopular Opinion

The term smash burger is dumb
It’s a thin patty cooked on a griddle. Smashing and “frying” in its own grease is all branding.
Too many restaurants are touting 1/2 pound burgers with another 1/2 pound of ingredients. Give me a 1/4 pounder with good toppings and call it a day.
It’s similar to craft beer. It’s just good beer produced on a smaller scale. Well was. Don’t sell me this Hazy Little Thing by SN is a craft beer. It’s a good beer and that’s it
A smash burger is a thin patty not grilled Craft beer is good beer Water is wet

Pro Tip—you don’t have to ball it and smash it for the same effect

Me listening to the details of the defense arguing about the jury in the Floyd case
In terms of this thread, I’m not mad, I just think giving a fancy name to a standard griddle burger is silly
You never heard Wendy’s call it a junior bacon smash burger did ya? Or Waffle House offering smash burger patty melts?

Finally some truth flying around here.
I'm going to invent an outdoor microwave and call it the Apachewave, sell it for $800 and these dudes will buy em all and tell everyone how much better it is heating soup outdoors

I believe the implication is that most burger patties are

already in patty form prior to hitting a cooking surface, regardless of whether grill grate or griddle or engine block. Smash burgers are meatballs when they hit the griddle surface, and are subsequently smashed into a patty AS they are cooking, rather than prior.
A craft brewer may call itself as such if it produces less than 6 million barrels of beer annually. Thus, SN may not refer to themselves as a craft brewer in any official capacity. Your neighbor may call them a craft brewer, but they're not, not legally at least, and your neighbor is dumb.

A fatty patty cooking in its own juices is the same as smashing it. Crispy edges and taste are great. I’m saying I don’t like the product itself, I love it. Calling it a smash burger is just silly.
The craft brew thing is moreso directed at restaurants and grocers that call it such.

I still do a big thick fatazz burger that is medium rare and pink in the center. I load it up with everygoddammthing... mayo, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, pickles & whatever else I have... I have to sprain jaw muscles just to get my mouth around it. And if I don't have burger juice dripping off my elbows... it was subpar. Fu&k a small flat beef pattie...

Burgers sucked, and it's hard to screw up a hamburger.
Went twice. Once a month after it opened. Gave it another shot about a year after opening. Never went back.
