Really good talk. Cool insights and stories. His sweet, soft-spoken mom would tell him to "knock some body's head off for me" before games. Danny called him Laverne. And so on.

If you need a speaker, he's a great rep for the Clemson family.

Sorry Bill. Kirkland didn't come to Clemson until 1987, and he red shirted that year. 1988 was the first year he played. I believe you are thinking about Jeff Davis.

Levon Kirkland was a BEAST!!! I remember him terrorizing Major Harris of West Virginia in the 1989 Gator Bowl.
That was also Danny's last game as a Clemson coach. My wife and I, along with my old Clemson roommate and his wife, went down for the game and had a great time in Jacksonville.

He made Private Harris's mother cry at the Gator Bowl when we played West Virginia.

His wife Keisha, who passed away from cancer, was with him.

Wonderful family and a great ambassador for Clemson.
