Let’s wrap up the RBC Heritage . . .

Apr 17, 2022, 10:24 PM

Here’s how our Tigers finished:

T48: $21,040 -- Doc Redman, Lucas Glover

T59: $17,680 -- Ben Martin

T70: $16,230 -- Jonathan Byrd

Not exactly what we were hoping for, but better than not making the Cut . . . Right MyfavOrange® . . . too soon??? ??

After playing pretty good for 3 days, Lucas on Sunday missed:

1 - 3'11"
3 - ~ 7'
2 - ~ 10'
2 - ~ 16'

Could have used a few of those as he dropped from 79th in FedEx to 90th. Good news he's still well within the 125. He's hitting his driver good.

I remember the first time, and one of the only times, that I

attended a round at the Heritage. It was the Thursday round in 1984. It was remarkable in only one respect.

The week prior, I had attended my first ever Practice Round for The Masters at Augusta National. To say I was "stunned" by the beauty and conditioning of the World's Largest Manicured Garden would be a gross understatement. I was literally gobsmacked.

So, when I stepped onto Harbour Town Golf Links the very next week, it could not have been anything but a letdown. It was. And, don't get me wrong, Harbour Town is a BEAUTIFUL golf course. It is a fantastic layout, from the mind of the diabolical Pete Dye, with consulting input from Jack Nicklaus.

Butt, when you try to compare it, or any other course, to Augusta National conditioning wise, it begins to look like a pig sty. That's just truth. No other golf course in the world spends the whole year basically dedicating itself to being ready to host a tournament one week a year.

One other thing I remember about Harbour Town. The TV shots make it look like that faux lighthouse is close behind the 18th green. If you are walking, it is anything but.

:)
