Let's work together to help protect Howard's Rock.

I will personally lead the charge to make sure this happens through my show, Clemson Sports Talk. If 1/4 of the people who support Clemson will donate $1/month, we can make this happen. If more donate, the sky is the limit. Howard's Rock is an iconic symbol in college football's history and it shouldn't go the way of the Toomer's Corner Oaks.
First, with your help we will begin by procuring the funds to support a security team. Then we will then begin working with Clemson University to help initiate, fund, and finance the underground bunker project. The bunker will need to be deemed feasible after being evaluated by a team of engineers and approved by the Clemson University Board of Trustees and the Athletic Department.
Clemson Sports Talk will be happy to be at the forefront of helping get this project off and running. Obviously there will be hurdles along the way, but that will not stop me from trying.
If we reach the goal, we will begin working with the proper channels to get the process started.
Learn how you can help us reach our goal! There are no guarantees, I just need your support!

Fully expecting to get flamed for my comments, I'll go ahead and say it anyway:
I give plenty to IPTAY (enough to park in Lot 5, anyway) and buy 4 season tickets/year. Why should I have to give more for this?
The solution is simple. If you want to protect Howard's Rock, don't leave it out in public without a guard.

about a massive movement to get it done by individuals giving a very small amount. Plus the guard is the first step before funding the full thing with approval of the board etc. You can give all you want to IPTAY and Clemson, but I'm telling you what I will do to help get things rolling.

Clemson man and I don't have the means to protect it, but as a Clemson Family if we determine that Howard's Rock is in danger we need to protect it. I'm willing to lead the charge. Can we get there? I don't know, but at least we can try.

I Totally disagree with your remark. It is part of Clemson and we shouldn't have to hide it. People get their photos made with it, married beside it, etc. it is Clemson. You might not be willing to contribute toward improving security but I'm sure there are thousands of other people that are, including myself.

I don't think it would be that expensive to get a really good security system around the rock. I think it is sad to think we would have to hide the rock until gave day and lock the gate. Start a go fund me account or some kind of fund raiser. First get s security company to come in and give us the cost of a really good reliable security option

ultimate goal is to fund the bunker as well. You can give through the link in my previous post. Lots of people will talk solutions, but will they really support a guy willing to lead the charge? We will have to see.

IMHO ... despite the calls to have a military presence on duty 24 hours to protect the rock ... just put it in a tamper proof case. If the pedestal gets damaged it can be replaced. It's the rock we're worried about. I'm even for enclosing it in a safe and exposing it when needed. It has a purpose and if that purpose is so important that its security becomes a valid issue, then do what it takes to protect it.
