Have you ever been on vacation? Where did your family sleep? Did you pay for lodging, above and beyond what your normal house payment is?
Ok, take that similar sentiment, and apply it here. Except because I can afford to, I'm on a 12-18 month long vacation, but sometimes, I work.
My original plan was to move to the Bahama's, or Fl keys, but my wife got a new job right before we moved that required her to be in SC. So we could have moved to say, the mountains in SC, or Clemson, or Pawley's Island, but we looked at this house, that is 200 yards from the beach, liked it, and decided we'd stay here instead of those other places.
So in your very simple mind, try and equate it to me paying rent to being on an extended vacation.
