I'm actually pleased about some of the changes on the depth

Sep 28, 2021, 10:12 AM

chart for Saturday. To some outside observers, these changes are long overdue.

1) Tchio starter at LG: I've been saying this for 4 weeks. Finally.
2) Mafah at RB: bruising, between the tackles runner that punishes defensive tacklers. Pace doesn't have the explosive first step to bounce outside, we need Dukes to come along assuming he can stop putting the ball on the ground.
3) Davis being named starter at TE. I would still rather see Ennis or Jlay ahead of Galloway at this point, who's regressed to the point where he's nothing more than a walk on type player.

Bockhorst at center has been, well, not good but it's not really his fault he's playing out of position---that's on staff for not recruiting numbers at O Line. Praying we can get Rayburn going and move Bock back to guard where he's more comfortable.

Why can't Elliott change up his play calling?

Why can't we hit a RB in the flat or seam like NC State did all day long?
Why can't we have WR's blocking on swing routes? Is blocking no longer required from WR's?
Why can't we roll out our QB?
Why can't we spread out a little more and use more motion?

Screw Calford.

I’d love to see what Mafah’s got. We need a running threat!

lets just hope he will get some holes to run through***

Clemson Football, the glory days are here!

All good questions...

First drive DJ rolled out and it looked like the O was finally clicking. Don't remember him rolling out much after that 1st drive. Seems like if something works we tend to try to do something else. A few other observations/questions:

Would love to see the % of times we gain yardage on the flanker screen...yet it is a mainstay.
What happened to the jet sweep?
O-line problems have been persistent over the last few years...something has to change.

Looking forward to seeing how this team responds. Go Tigers!

I've brought up a few times how I'd like to see TE use the roll out pass more also. The opposing teams have made a point of blasting through the middle of the line, why not use that against them and roll DJ out? Instead its the same old thing, run up the gut/wr screen. Until DJ gets something going they need to drop the RPO and just let him use his arm. Its painfully obvious to anyone watching DJ doesn't want to run. He's not processing whether to pull it or throw it fast enough to keep beating that horse currently. I still think DJ can turn things around this year but TE isn't doing him ANY favors with the playcalling.

He's much more effective when he rolls out and when we spread out the RB so LB's can't key on him and blow up our A gaps.
