Let's face facts. A big money NIL is a Professional Signing

May 20, 2022, 6:04 PM

Bonus. You can cloak it in all the indirect BS you want to, in reality, that is what it is. And, since that IS what it is, the NCAA took the exact wrong approach to it. Instead of making everyone jump through hoops to ensure it is NOT tied to the schools, the opposite approach should have been used.

Signing a big NIL deal with boosters of said school SHOULD bind an athlete to that school, for at least a couple of years. That is what NFL contracts do. And that is what college football is chugging full speed ahead towards, players treated as employees, and signed to binding contracts. Why not just skip all this drama and go ahead and pass Go and collect $200 now?

I know Dabo and others are against the professionalism of college football. But, the courts appear to be forcing that change anyway. Embrace it, in some semblance of an ordered fashion, instead of the Wild West quagmire we find ourselves in now.

ugh, once they become employees of the Schools

You will quickly have players union, collective bargaining and strikes. You will see schools drop sports or go to a 'club sports' mentality. No thank you. LOL

Dabo is dead right about one thing. NIL as it stands right

now IS UNSUSTAINABLE. The Big Money Boosters are throwing money at their shiny new toy right now by the bucketfuls. But, as is already beginning to happen, some of these big time paid players are going to transfer to another school, leaving the Big Money Booster on the hook with nothing to show for it.

Millionaires didn't get to BE Millionaires by being completely stupid with their money handling. They get burned a time or two, and they won't be nearly so willing to refill the money trough the next time. Until that happens, you will have the uneven chaos you have now. WHEN that happens, you will have even more chaos, as the whole thing burns down.

The big losers will be the young men (or women, in the rarer case) who took the money, DIDN'T get an education, and now face 40+ years of poor or zero earning potential because nobody made them have a backup plan. That's what Dabo is preaching against, and he will once again be proven right in the long run.

Better to have some organization to this NOW, rather than AFTER Rome has burned to the ground.

You, sir, are exactly right.

Careless millionaires don't remain millionaires for long.
