Oh my gosh D Watson not welcome in a Bama bar

Apr 1, 2017, 3:11 PM

I am as big a Clemson homer as anyone but some of ya'll lok like pathetic school girls or TMZ reporters. So he goes into a bar near their stadium 2 months after upsetting them in the NC and ya'll act like he was supposed to get a standing ovation. Get over it. I guarantee you if we played Devi'ls advocate and it was Jalen Hurts showing up at Esso randomly after beating CU it woul be implied as a major troll and I bet Ben Boulware, who I love, would probably as why he was thre if he was in attendance. Quit calling the bar etc.. etc.. it makes you look like a middle school teenager. Go ahead and lable me a "coot", etc.. and I will happily post a picture of me in Tampa and the National title ticket I spent a fortune on. This is silly.

He was supposed to enjoy the freedom that everyone in this country is entitled to.

No one has said they should have been shaking his hand and giving him a standing ovation.

What they did is discrimination. Hope this helps.

Actually it's not discrimination. I inquired my Human Resources department years ago if I could not hire people based solely on their alma mater. I was told I could, it's not a protected class. To this day I have never hired a USC grad. They're pretty hard to find anyway.

Not to mention, who runs his HR demartment and still lets him hire after that question?

Predisposition to favoring a candidate based solely upon where they graduated from says to me..."This person is incapable of making an unbiased decision on which candidate is best for a job."

from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (say Howard University or Tuskegee), and that would be cool? By "years ago," did this happen to be in the 1950s?

By the way, U of SuCk grads are easy to find. Just order a pizza for delivery.

Yes, thats what it means because being an alumnus of a particular university is not a protected class.

If an engineer from Clemson applies to BMW and an engineer with an online degree from the University of American Samoa both apply to BMW, guess who isn't getting hired?

OK Mr Internet Lawyer, I'll cite a random counter argument

Apr 1, 2017, 3:39 PM [ in reply to Re: Oh my gosh D Watson not welcome in a Bama bar ]

I'll play Internet Lawyer too. Here is a random link from my first search on Google:

http://m.insidetucsonbusiness.com/news/when-is-refusing-service-legal-and-when-is-it-discrimination/article_305de452-a55b-11e3-8245-001a4bcf887a.html?mode=jqm

Business owners can refuse to serve customers, but must be careful that the denial of service is based on customer behavior, decorum or the health and safety of patrons and employees.

“Normally, (refusal of service) would only be warranted where the customer’s presence would somehow be distracting to the wellbeing, to the safety, to the welfare of the other people in the business and the business itself. They can’t arbitrarily refuse service to some because they don’t like the way that they look,” Meynard said

As an Internet Lawyer myself, I would argue that DW's continued presence might have escalated into a fracas of sorts that could have had negative effect on the safety of patrons or employees.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And I could argue that the entire situation was instigated

Apr 1, 2017, 3:57 PM

by Ryan Anderson who was the one who initiated the confrontation... DW4 did the right thing. I probably wouldn't have. Neither change the fact that Ryan Anderson is a PUNK BAMA LOSER.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's my issue with the entire thing. The fact that a...

Apr 1, 2017, 4:33 PM

...fellow competitor instigated it is a bit surprising to me. If it were just Bama fans giving DW some negative jazz I could completely understand. But I do think, perhaps naively, that a fellow player should attempt to shut it down and not start the fire given how ugly that could have turned.

And for what it's worth, I would be saddened (and a bit ashamed) if this happened to a Bama player in Clemson and instigated by a CU (current or former) player. It's not like it was late night at TTT and everybody was well-oiled. That would be a different scenario.

Deshaun and his party were reportedly there for 30-45 minutes without confrontation. They ate meals, which were no longer present in the videos, supporting this fact.

And then Bama players showed up to initiate the confrontation.

So, internet lawyer...who is it that should have been asked to leave?

Re: OK Mr Internet Lawyer, I'll cite a random counter argument

Apr 1, 2017, 6:11 PM

Well, I did sleep at a Holiday Inn. My Internet paralegal did a poor job of researching or didn't bother coming to work at all. I was not aware that Deshaun had been on premises with no issues until the Alabama player(s) showed up.

Still, I wouldn't say it was discrimination - which was my only issue to your post - but then again I am just free Internet/Google search lawyer.

Maybe another internet lawyer could charge Ryan with some sort of harassment charge and see if it sticks. I don't fault thee owner/staff for 'letting things happen'. Would have been business suicide had the owner kicked out the Alabama player.

From reading the rest of the posts on this thread, it sounds like the fans were OK with it but the d00shy Bama player was the cause.

Before closing, just want to say I'm a big fan of your TigerNet handle which will I think is probably the best one on here.

Give a break. Discrimination is being asked to leave because he is black ie Bama in the 1960s' Being told you aren't welcome because you just whopped their butts in the national title because they are sore is not the same.

So you only discriminate based on race (which you're the first one to bring up by the way)...and don't realize that discrimination takes many forms. What a shame.

You can keep on defending that crap behavior all you want to. No one is filing a case or making a civil suit out of it.

The fact remains, that's the kind of behavior that keeps us all so divided.

Have passion for your school? Great, good for you.

Use that as an excuse to deny someone their basic rights...you're wrong 100% of the time. Period.

move; I mean it almost reminds me of all the stories about Jesus and how he wasn't welcome some places by certain people. However, I tink Deshaun knew that by remaining calm and collective he was actually paying homage to that great football town. I'm glad lots of 'Bama folks see it that way as well deep down inside, and it seems like you've got a pretty good grasp on that reality as well.

His girlfriend who resides there was celebrating a friends birthday and he was passing through after picking up the Manning Award in New Orleans, on his way back to Clemson.

Not that any of that should matter, he's free to stop into any public establishment he chooses, as you and the rest of us are, regardless of the reason and without fear of someone discriminating against him.

What's so hard to understand about this concept?

I would imagine he thought he would eat a meal, hang out with friends, and be in his way. He probably didn't imagine he would be asked to leave by Bama trash and then have that trashy behavior defended by trashy wanna be Clemson fans.

Re: Oh my gosh D Watson not welcome in a Bama bar

Are you 12? Those two things are nothing alike. The behavior of the Alabama fans and players was trashy. People who defend trashy behavior tend to be trashy themselves. I'm married to a gamecock and I live in Columbia. We both wear our team clothing all of the time to both Clemson and gamecock events. Neither of us has ever been told to leave somewhere. Plenty of trash talk but never beyond that.

You can wear a Bufflao Bills jersey into a bar of Pats fans or a Gamecock Jersey into a known Clemson bar and not expect heckling etc.. etc.. I am just curious does anyone know why he was in Tuscaloosa. Yes its a free country but would just be curious to know.

You should be able to go anywhere you choose and wear anything you please as long as you're within the rules of the establishment.

Why exactly is us that you think your line of reasoning is okay? It's not.

Kicking a person out of a restaurant like that is trashy.

They deserve punishment. If the Esso club allowed patrons to kick out an Alabama player, just for who he is, I would say the same thing.

I'm not taking the time to call their restaurant or post an inline review, but they should expect fallout for that kind of behavior.
