So, my daughter came home wearing a USuCk sweatshirt

Nov 4, 2016, 11:20 PM

it belongs to a boy she has been talking to at High School, apparently they are now an item. The irony is killing me, I need a support group. Has this happened to anyone else?

Simple... send her back outside

Nah

Let her in

Remove sweatshirt. Throw in burn barrel and strike a match

At least he was thoughtful considerate and

respectful enough to give her a sweat shirt on a cool evening. Remember that when you haul him deep in the woods and convince him he's not good enough for her.

My daughter is 14 and won't even wear red and black.

Nov 4, 2016, 11:39 PM

I've always teachef loving Clemson, not hating Scar.. she got to middle school and the way kids behaved about being gamecock fans irritated her to the point of her making her own conclusion and decisions.
Couldn't imagine her walking in with Gamecock gear, but luckily, not a concern I think we'll ever have.
Good luck man, that's a tough one.

Nov 4, 2016, 11:58 PM

I see no problem. She is smart enough to know she doesn't want to end up with a gamecock. She will make the right decision.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My daughter did the same thing when she was 16

Nov 4, 2016, 11:59 PM

I sure do miss her

Make a point to watch the game with her. Teach her the game, Clemson players, trivia and info. Immerse her in Clemson lore, even if she resists. She'll develop guilt being associated with coots. She'll gain a Clemson identity instead of a passive football interest (because boys, big arms and tight pants).

It may be too late for her though...

Nov 5, 2016, 3:01 AM

You've failed as a father.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do you have a needle and thread?

Nov 5, 2016, 3:12 AM

Sew 'Roll Tide' on the back.
The Citadel or 63-17, etc.

This is an easy fix. Derision is a mighty sword.

Another possibility?

Nov 5, 2016, 3:30 AM

After you sew whatever you like on it, take the sweatshirt to Wal-Mart. Put it on a Sale rack. Take lots of photos. Share as you see fit. At the very least you can post them here.
We will all get a laugh and at least for a spell not worry about your daughter's future.
T-Net boreds can be something like a support group for long-suffering fathers dealing w/ Coot infiltration.

Just spitballin' here...so to speak.

My daughter actually married one. Lucky for him he is a great guy. He graduated from there and doesn't really care much about sports so he's not the obnoxious type. They came to watch the national championship game with me last year and he even wore an orange Clemson t-shirt. Just because he made a mistake in the past in choosing a school you can't hold it against him the rest of his life I guess. ;)

Spud Jr. came home his freshman year from Clemson sporting

Nov 5, 2016, 8:42 AM

a white hate that had in baby blue the letters UNC. I said, " What the heck is that?". He said," This is a cool looking hat". We got that incident sorted out PDQ. I have had no other problems with him since then.

Although, he was home last weekend( His sister was too) and he walked out of his bedroom wearing same hat.......just a little poke at Ole Spud...

Let her know that there are way too many people

Nov 5, 2016, 9:07 AM

Out there with poor decision making skills and this guy is one of them. Only justifiable way for her to wear usuck gear is if she (heaven forbid) goes to Usuck. Then the burden of that poor decision is on her and not some boy she's sweet on.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pretty easy steps to correct:

Nov 5, 2016, 9:11 AM

1. Load the weather app on her phone and make sure she knows how to use it.
2. Take her shopping today and get her a nice Clemson sweatshirt.
3. Remind her that orange blood runs DEEP and rules apply.

If all else fails, bc usually teenage girls know way more than their parents, convert the boy to Clemson. She has something he wants and may be willing to see things your way easier than you think. This also keeps him from continuing to look like a deuche wearing chicken $h1t.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: 'easy' ... to correct?!

Yeah, THAT'S RIGHT!!

No relationship is really 50/50. My daughter is dating a gamecock that she will probably end up marrying but he knows who is boss.

Take her to a game at the cockroach dressed in Clemson gear. Any game will do, as long as Clemson isn't playing. That will certainly give her a new perspective.

Re: So, my daughter came home wearing a USuCk sweatshirt

Nov 8, 2016, 9:04 AM

My daughter owns: a USC-Eastern(boyfriend in High School) t-shirt. a real USC t-shirt(cousin), a Purdue T-shirt(cousin); A Furman sweatshirt-"FU all the Time"(friend at Furman), two Vanderbilt t-shirts(friend and cousin), a Kansas football jersey #1, how's that for irony?(grandparents), a Kansas State PE jersey(Me to tick off grandparents), a Clemson sweatshirt, a Clemson t-shirt, a Clemson hoodie, and A Clemson white practice jersey #6 actually worn by Jacoby Ford bought by me at State Surplus. My favorite though is actually an Emory Football sweatshirt that says "Emory Football still Undefeated".PS Emory DOESN'T have a football team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, and until you mentioned it I had never thought about it.

Nov 8, 2016, 12:51 PM

I hope I don't have to deal with that. Good luck, maybe you can convert him to orange.

My daughter has also worn the garnet and black, but it happened to be Wando High School colors. She is now at Clemson so all's well. Killed me to wear those colors when I went to the games though. I always called them Wando colors not USC.
