Trying to figure out what's real and fake these days

Jun 8, 2022, 10:55 AM

Diesel shortages? There are tons of posts on social media, and on reputable news sites, about diesel shortages. I mean you have a few stories on it, then the IEA dude said it will be worse than the 70's. Whatever. But from what I can tell, it seems to be the diesel engine oil, and DEF that will dry up first. But even diesel fuel inventories are at decade lows.

Any truckers or diesel users in here noticing anything other than sky high prices? A few major diesel engine oils are said to be disappearing from stores and suppliers. People are scrambling to find other brands of diesel oils, but several brands have become scarce in places.

And as usual, the problem seems to be worldwide. Again I wouldn't pay much attention if not for the problem evidently being worldwide. Just seems to be flying under the radar here in the US, like so much else. You see it happening worldwide, then it smacks us in the face, and then we act surprised, generate excuses, and eventually make it a political football, and that solves it.

That doesn't seem much out of the norm

Only slightly below normal declines during this period on the 5 year average. Noticed I can't seem to find days left of diesel though.

Just amazing how this is flying under the radar in the news.

Did find this.

Did find this chart though

Less refineries now, and since Europe uses more diesel, I

think we're exporting more diesel and importing more gas.

might be another disaster inbound, since most of our food arrives on diesel trucks

Most of it is planted by diesel tractors...***

I've read it's more DEF related than actual diesel

Jun 8, 2022, 2:28 PM

and the issue is due to UP's monopoly on the railway. The specific case I read was pertaining to Pilot / Flying J though...granted, they're the largest supplier by a long shot.

Don't you guys love it when Washington saves the planet with brilliant policies like DEF sensors on diesel vehicles?

I'd tend to believe that... If it wasn't worldwide.***
