When was the last time you went to a game?

Unless you are still rockin' a flip phone the signal is fine.

You even have reception in the basement of the library these days.

Had no problem with the internet this past Saturday. Signal was fine.

I have gone to all the games since 2014 except last week and 2020. I can’t get a decent signal tailgating at Valley Walk or in the stadium once it starts to fill up. Maybe just Verizon?

Years ago on the farm, my dad actually grew some sugarcane

Nov 18, 2022, 10:27 AM

and harvested it to make Cane Syrup. For those not in the know, the way that is done starts with cutting down the Cane, then sending it through a mechanical squeezer, which smooshes it flat and extracts all the juice into a container. It is then "cooked down" over a period of time, and a side product is something called "sou'cat" (sp) which will make you VERY drunk. We had farm hands literally falling down drunk after a cooking session at least once that I can remember. (I was very young at the time, not more than 7 or 8 years old.)

Squeezing the juice out of Miami is very much how I would like to see the game go tomorrow. Let the Tigers be that pair of mechanical rollers that flattens the Canes, and relegates them to the trash heap. Then, we celebrate with some modern sou'cat.

On a side note, Cane syrup is VERY different tasting than Maple syrup. It also made very good flat belt "dressing" for the flat belts which ran our sawmill equipment. If a belt got stretched and started slipping, a little Cane syrup would temporarily solve that problem. You could immediately hear the change in tone as the equipment being driven sped back up.

:)

Great memories. My dad grew up in south GA and when we went to visit as kids he always stopped and got us some sugar cane. We would strip the outer layer and chew the pulp from the inside to get the sweet juice from it. It was always a treat for us. He also had bee hives and we would chew the honey comb the same way until all the sweetness and honey was gone.
