Last possession for the field goal versus Louisville

Great field position and like most of the year we do nothing with it. Most of our good drives have been when we have to go the long field. It is just really strange. And BTW that drive if you call it that had really poor run blocking. Certain people hardly touching their man when they block

It's hard for 5 offensive linemen to block 10 defenders. Louisville lined 10 men between the tackles all 3 plays with ABSOLUTE certainty that we would run it up the gut... and we did. In fact, TE said that after we stopped them on 4th down, Dabo said "runs only." I don't disagree with running the ball and forcing them to call all their timeouts, but for goodness sake run a different play... especially when you see the defense stacked.

Bad things happen less often on passes than runs. There is a reason Dabo will be a Hall of fame coach and his bust will be on the wall in Death Valley with the other greats.

If you are playing for the field goal, running outside can lose 5 yards.
Dabo made a tactical decision to take the field goal and play defense.
and it's a really good decision.
Without those 2 miraculous throws and catches, Louisville is not even close to scoring.
and with one more timeout because of a dropped pass, they maybe run it up the middle and score.

Should have opened the offense up to try to score and out the game away but Dabos instructions are to run up the middle and then kick This conservative philosophy almost cost the Louisville and BC games Our OC needs to get some balls and call plays to put the game away

As crappy as our offensive line blocking has been and with our receivers dropping balls and DJ making bad decisions, you assume we protect well enough to pass and the receivers catch the ball.
Dabo knows what he has.

the center snapping the ball over DJ's head influenced the play calling.
Just another case of stepping on our own Johnson with golf shoes.

They should have put DW4 in and let him run it.

Things that we accomplished with that "drive".
UL used all of their 3 timeouts that they had remaining.
We got 3 points to make it a TD game instead of letting a FG tie it up.
If UL has a timeout remaining they are much harder to defend on the goal line. They also have the ability to call timeout before the 4th down play to get everyone prepared for their best play call.
Also, they could have easily kicked a fg from 4th and goal on the 2 after we stopped them the first 3 plays if we were only up by 3.

Funny how all the same folks that are complaining about this also complained that we should not have gone for 4th down at the 1 yard line??!!
