Lanning hire

Does that mean Venables said no? Either that or they couldn't come to a middle ground on the contract (which doesn't seem likely. If Venables wanted to go I think they coulda made a deal). Lanning is a great DC but doesn't have the history and Venables does with OU does he?

Venables might have told them to go hug a root, but they had been talking Lanning up as the next Bob Stoops. He is young successful coach in the SEC which is what OU was looking for to also make the transition to the SEC.
