But it is beyond stupid to quit a job and move across the country for a job which requires you pass a background check if there is an ounce of doubt you might not pass. It's dumb either way, but really dumb if you have baggage that may be an issue during a background check.

I may or may not have misdemeanors from my young and dumb days, but I've never had an issue with passing a background check for a job...

Depending what the charges were, he probably figured it wouldn't be an issue. He has also held other positions at multiple schools where it didn't seem to be a problem.

He should probably have disclosed the info and asked if it would be an issue, but who really knows what the real story is
