Transfer Portal is ruining college football
Dec 3, 2021, 3:17 PM
|

So long to the days of kids showing any kind of perseverance or grit if they aren't getting the playtime they want. They just take their ball and go home like the little crybaby in the neighborhood growing up.
College football will be a shell of what it used to be within 10 years.

But Ladson, he didn't see the field because he got hurt, that's not his fault or the coaches fault for not playing him. He should stick it out and play at Clemson.

Why would TP stay? This year has shown him no matter how bad big cinco plays he is not coming out of the game. Kid probably just wants to go somewhere where there is an actual competition for playing time

You must’ve worked in the same terrible job you’ve had since high school. As undying loyalty is the American way.
Pretty sure the American dream is about having opportunities, not playing 2nd string for an amateur sports league for a team just because some used car salesman recruiter convinced you at 17 years old.
Quit being dramatic.

I think it can ruin it, and as LR showed it can blow up a program with one decision. A coach can leave and basically take the entire team with no penalty

Ladson caught 4 balls this year

He stayed hurt. He got passed.
#7, sure he is a good kid but seriously, gain 30 pounds and play Tight End. If he can fight through an achilles he can surely handle the contact of Tight End. At this level teams dont have 3-4 years to figure out if you can play QB.

It's like Dabo said, he's a good player but he's got to be available.

No it ain’t, you will need to evolve and adapt too compensate for the possible losses. You accomplish this by over signing! ??

Its not ruining anything if they aren't even playing. The kids love football. The kids want to play. If they transfer to a smaller school and happier there starting who cares. The benefit to the school is that there is another spot open to fill it with a potential starter.
Yall are just a bunch of old people screaming at the clouds because of how its "not like it use to be"

Disagree
If anything it will only continue to unstack the deck to a point (money will restack it).
Right now any other college student can "transfer" at any time for any reason with nearly no penalty in their non-academic/credit life. This applies to schollies. Why should athletes be different?
If players are "employees" an employee can leave a job and join another one at any time so why are college players different.
Now, those that jump 4 games in - yeah, that is a coot move but not the kids that have basically finished the season. A redshirt sophomore did their three years.

Zero point in complaining about it. Have to adapt. And is exactly why you can’t keep signing 15 to 18 per class every other year. If this isn’t a 22-24 person class, we will have to hit the portal hard just have a solid 2 deep

Below average. Most other top programs take 20+. We continue to lose players to the portal, take small classes, and just give more and more walk ons scholarships. Hence why Will Swinney and Will Brown are starting at receiver at this point.

So in short what Youngtiger is saying…The transfer portal is demolishing our depth…and he’s absolutely right. Blind fans will tell you that we do not have a serious problem with depth and talent on this team…particularly at the WR and OL positions…

At least these guys are doing early enough so our coaches know they need to sign more players. It is late in recruiting, but I am sure our coaches keep in contact with many recruits for cases like these.

To be honest I don’t blame Tp one bit for leaving … he did some good things and as bad as dj played this year there was absolutely no excuse for him not getting a legit chance … and who knows maybe that game he drove us down the field and then banged his shoulder up may have been the moment he took over , we will never know but don’t blame him at all
