Koch Brothers are buying our gubmint! AmIRight?!

Feb 17, 2014, 11:48 AM

NOPE. You're not TBalm.

http://personalliberty.com/2014/02/17/koch-brothers-way-down-the-list-of-top-political-donors-a-list-dominated-by-democrats/

And before you whine about how this isn't a reliable source, go to opensecrets.com and see for yourself. This is PUBLIC information.

Turns out UNIONS are trying to buy your government.

So glad the WORKERS voted those crooks down in Chattanooga.

when have I ever said this?

(dont hurt yourself looking, because you will not find it)

and as I recall, the Volkswagen plant in Tenn was in favor of the Union, not the other way around.

sheesh.

And I don't need to waste my time looking for posts of you saying the Koch brothers are the financial muscle behind the Tea Party and anti government groups. We've ALL heard you say that over and over. pffft

I realize facts often get in your way

I am saying Volkswagon, the company, is pro union as are most European automakers.

As far as the vote, The problem is that US sentor Bob Corker(Republican go figure) told an out an out lie that swayed the vote. He was more worried about being out spent in the next election than he was protecting jobs and worker rights in his state.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/02/13/us-volkswagen-corker-idUSBREA1C04H20140213

but feel free to spin this any way you like.

Kind of a stretch to assert that most Euro automakers are

Feb 17, 2014, 12:25 PM [ in reply to I realize facts often get in your way ]

pro-union. While German auto unions and makers have a much less adversarial relationship than the typical UAW/Big 3, unionization still drives up the manufacturing costs at any plant and that fact is not lost on any auto manufacturer. Hence you see the huge BMW plant in G'ville, SC; Mercedes plants in AL and MS, Hyundai plant in AL....all non-union houses. Lower manufacturing costs and proximity to consumer are driving forces in foreign auto mfg investment in US.

I have no doubt VW could've handled it well if the vote had turned out in favor of a union, but the truth is that the UAW has done more damage to it's own reputation than anyone outside the organization.

Re: Kind of a stretch to assert that most Euro automakers are

Feb 17, 2014, 12:29 PM

that is because there is a different climate in the SC than in Germany, most it being a right to work state.

Volkswagon in Tenn WAS in favor of there workers having representation. And none if this dispels the fact that a US senator lied in the middle of the voting procedure for his personal gain.

Shelby just needs to check his facts before he starts a thread with the sole intention of attacking me.

Wanting the workers to have representation and having

Feb 17, 2014, 12:40 PM

the UAW organize your plant are two different things. German and US labor law are a bit in conflict on how to best accomplish this. The plant will be more profitable without the UAW and that is just the plain truth.

Now, Corker taking advantage of the situation...what did you expect? He's a politician.

Re: Wanting the workers to have representation and having

Feb 17, 2014, 12:45 PM

I think that if the republican party would stand up for the labor moment a little more instead of attacking it, they would stand to gain a lot of voters and take the wind out of the sails of the unions. JMHO.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The mighty UAW did nothing to refute this "lie"?

Feb 17, 2014, 2:18 PM

Unions are doing enough to take the wind out of their own sails along with US manufacturing.

The President of the UAW did, and if unions are contributing so much in campaigns, the wind has hardly been taken out of their sales as is.

Feb 17, 2014, 1:27 PM

there is no public accounting of contributions. From your link: "Furthermore, the totals do not include contributions to politically active nonprofits, which are not disclosed to the public." Americans For Prosperity, for example, was founded with the support of the Koch brothers and played a major role in the GOP taking the House in 2010.
