Just sent a check to the IRS

Apr 14, 2014, 2:51 PM

The middle class man don't stand a chance. You work hard all your life and just because your house is paid for you have to pay for somebody that has 5 kids and no job.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Apr 14, 2014, 2:59 PM

There is the military, prisons, highways, courts, state subsidies, social security, and a billion other things too. But those arent as rewarding to think about. i prefer to think my taxes help poor children who's parents may be down on their luck, and maybe helping an old lady pay her heating bill so she doesnt freeze to death. Thats just me though

Apr 14, 2014, 3:12 PM

He is paying for a house occupied by his three children, his unemployed ex-wife and her unemployed live-in boyfriend.

I'd have no problem paying child support for my children but I'd have to draw the line at paying for some deadbeat to boink my ex-wife.

The two have no plans to wed because they know that getting married ends the spousal support gravytrain.

Step 1: plant drugs when he picks his kids up. They probably already have drugs there, but more will not hurt (get gloves=no fingerprints)

Step 2: call the police and say that you smelled a "suspicious odor" at the house when you got there. Go ahead and say their eyes were bloodshot and glossy, but don't push it to far.

Step 3: go to court and petition for full custody

Step 4: get your kids

BOOM!!! no more alimony for her and her deadbeat boyfriend, problem solved.

PS: when hiding the drugs find a good hiding space, nothing to hard, or easy to find. I recommend excusing yourself to the bathroom and finding a spot there. Perhaps a medicine bottle? or in the back of the toilet?

Not if you set the sales tax rate at a level that would match what is currently being taken in by the IRS.

Regressive

Apr 14, 2014, 3:54 PM

As in it, percentage wise, the poor end up paying more than the rich.

Re: If I were in charge....

You would make a ton of very rich people very happy. But.. who would buy any american products if it came with a 20% or so sales tax?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Other countries with whom the US trades....

Apr 14, 2014, 3:57 PM

don't pay sales tax anyway. Not only would the tax burden actually be less regressive, but America would benefit by creating a more competitive market with the elimination of corporate payroll taxes. America would actually become much more competitive in world markets.

By expanding the base

Apr 14, 2014, 4:17 PM

everybody ends-up paying a lower rate.

People would be allowed to keep all of their paychecks and decide by their spending choices how much tax to pay. Basic necessities would be exempt.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Ok, we are getting a little less regressive

Apr 14, 2014, 4:18 PM

What do you consider "basic necessities"?

However, a sales tax is always going to be, by definition, regressive. It's just how the definition of "regressive tax" works.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: By expanding the base

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: By expanding the base

Apr 14, 2014, 5:10 PM

> Rich people would pay far less with no capitol gains

I didn't realize only "rich" people pay capital gains taxes.

I'm not rich, I earn about 80k per year. But, I also pay capital gains taxes on income that I have ALREADY played taxes on through the income tax.

There should be NO capital gains taxes.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Apr 14, 2014, 5:28 PM [ in reply to By expanding the base ]
