Just saw an article in the USA today

Apr 18, 2016, 11:44 AM

About every athletic department's revenue and I was a little concerned when I see how little we actually do make. I'm concerned we are on"overdrive" spending money we don't have just to compete. How long can this continue My God, almost all of the SEC, including the idiot coots, blows us outta the water in revenue and profits. Are we going bankrupt trying to compete in a conference that has zero chance of getting a lucrative conference network? This article has ruined my lunch...??????

Well , just look at a comparison of football fortunes to the money spent , between us and the Dirtpeckers.

No amount of money will make the Cock's campus look like the Clemson campus. No amount of money will put a lake right on the campus, or the mountains off in the distance. No amount of "athletic" money is going to raise their academic standing. No amount of money is going to erase their long history of losing. Lastly: If money could buy football success then Oregon would National Champs every year. So, I wouldn't worry about it.

TigerDug is correct, just look at where the dirt-peckers are and where Clemson is.

Obviously, athletic department revenue isn't the determining factor.

Clemson's private donations are very considerable. Our new $55 MIL football facility is being built with 100% private donations. IPTAY, donations, etc....are what makes Clemson a National Football power. Athletic Dept. revenue is helpful, but without fan support and private donations you're just another wanna-be.
