Just ordered a Prairie Artisan Ale BOMB!

Dec 30, 2015, 9:28 PM

From Tulsa, Oklahoma to celebrate our upcoming victory over the Sooners. 13% imperial stout with chili peppers. Unfortunately it won't arrive in time to have it during the game, but I will save it for the championship game.

I've had it. Just like the football team, it's overrated.

It is a good beer, but $10 is steep. It cost around $6.50 in Oklahoma.

We don't get it in New Jersey so I ordered it online (with a bunch of other beers) from some place in California. I'm hoping it's awesome.

Get your hands on some Mexican Cake from

Dec 30, 2015, 11:06 PM

Westbrook Brewery in Charleston. Tends to be a little more drinkable right off the bat. A little more cinnamon flavor and less pepper. Have gotten a few bottles of Bomb the last 3 years and it always seems like it's better after it sits for a few months. That said it's a very good beer.

Westbrook Mexican Cake is the best pepper stout on the planet.

Two sips in, you are sweating, but you don't know why.
After an entire bomber, you wonder where it went and why your sinuses feel so good...and still no questionable heat.

My fav stout this Xmas has been Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout.

I've tried to find the Mexican Cake. Actually, I've tried to get anything from Westbrook because I hear they are the best brewery in SC, but they don't distribute in New Jersey and I haven't found any site online that sells their beers.

Great beer!

That's a great beer. A little pricey, but I like to have one every now and again. I find it really smooth. It's rich, malty and the chocolate notes are definitely present. It's not all that spicy, but there's just enough chili at the end to disguise the 13% booziness. I hope you enjoy it!

And, Go Tigers!

Bomb is good but abraxas and vanilla noir are their best stouts and while Mexican cake is good, the barrel-aged version is a whole lot better! Also seek out Hunahpu from Cigar City if you like the pepper stout style
