Everyone has right to voice their concerns/complain about what's going on with the staff changes. But I remember when CDS was hired a lot of people thought WTH is Clemson doing. Then Chad Morris was hired and other than 1 year at Tulsa his only experience was at the high school level. Again, a good many were asking WTH! Then Morris was replaced by the duo of Elliot and Scott and we know how that turned out but a vast majority of fans questioned this move as well. I've heard people complain that we shouldn't promote from within for the OC or DC positions and go for the sexy hire in established coaches to be brought in to save the offense/defense and recruiting. But maybe, just maybe, Dabo brings assistants and analysts in with the intent of grooming them in the Clemson culture. I for one believe that this is the case and prefer this to bringing in outsiders that might throw a monkey wrench in everything. Remember, one bad apple spoils the bunch. Will Dabo make the right hire every time? No, he's human and makes mistakes like you and me. Clemson has had amazing run this past decade and I believe regardless of how these hires pan out they will continue to put a relevant/consistent team for years to come. I remember when a great year at Clemson was 9-3. Now the sky is falling if this happens. I believe with the NIL and Transfer Portal the days of a few teams being dominant year in and year out are numbered. Kids are not going to want to be 3rd string on a National Championship caliber team for a couple of years. They are going to want to play so they can get that NIL money. Does all of this mean that I didn't get disappointed with how this year went, especially on the offensive side? Absolutely not. I, like everyone else, had grown to expect Clemson to be in the Playoffs every year. But we have become spoiled and have lost sight of how difficult it is to stay that level. With all of this being said I choose to trust in the system that is in place with Dabo at the helm. If you have a differing opinion you are welcome to it but whatever happens beyond today it's still a great time to be a Tiger and I'm proud to be All In!
Agree with most of what you're saying. Sat through miserable 3-7 seasons in 60's and 70's. Human nature to doubt or question hires and football in general.
I get ticked because to most, they enjoy discussing football. Discuss hires, plays, players etc. It's a joy. I myself love the x and o threads. I hear very little distrust in Dabo.
It'd be a pretty boring site and dhood would lose a lot of money if the only thing you could post is I love Dabo. Dabo will fix it. Yet, for the last 2 weeks, 9 out of 10 threads started say pretty much what I just stated. The one thread that's different, automatically gets run off and called a coot.
Now to your post. When Dabo was hired, he had to do some unorthodox hires and planning because we didn't have the Jimmy and Joes. He's made some busts in hires and he's made some great ones. But it's different structure to scale the mountain. Once you're on top, and built enough cred, you can afford to go get the best in the business to keep it going.... To stay on top. You don't have to go all the way to the bottom and start over. Imo, that's simply what most are saying. Like hey, we're on OSU level, we're on Bama level, let's remain there.
I guess one reason Dabo might not want to bring in an outsider is the new guy would want to bring in most of his own people which likely means releasing several people presently on the staff. That doesn't sit well with Dabo I don't think.
