Brent Venables didn’t have to watch the film of Clemson’s loss to Pitt. He knew the issues because he watched it unfold in person. The shovel pass and costly penalties hurt the Tigers were two of the main reasons for the loss. Full Story »

Boulware covering the wheel route...

has been a big issue.

He's had a good year and made lots of big plays on the edge or near the LOS.

But NC state (N. Hines dropped a sure TD wheel route where Boulware tried to pick him up), FSU (Dalvin Cook), and Pitt (James Conner) have all exposed Boulware on man coverage with the wheel route.

It's just tough to ask your LB who's a 4.7 guy to cover RB's in that position.

Having the safety help over the top leaves Carter or Fields on man to man coverage, which at times they've had issues with PI and holding calls (though a lot of them very questionable).

Wilkins & Dex my favorite Tigers were neutralized

by the shovel pass. And BV my favorite coach was outcoached on Sat. Could not stop the shovel pass. Could not make adjustments. Changed the complexion of the game and stopped our rush. We will be seeing a lot of shovel passes the rest of the season. What BV does to stop it will be interesting.
