Just gonna say it. Some of you are not getting into Heaven.

Excuse me while I climb into the pulpit, but this is a message some of you need to hear. You're not going to Heaven carrying around the hate and fear that makes you not just support, but cheer, the exploitation of who most certainly qualifies as the "meek" in the Bible.

Politics has poisoned your heart, and in its state, Christ most certainly does not know your name.

Some of you seem to think the profession of faith you made decades ago is some sort of technicality that earns you a spot in Heaven. And, I fully believe in the idea that nothing can separate you from Christ if you believe, but Christ made it clear saying his name and singing his praises does not mean he knows your name. As such, you should reflect upon the parable about the rich man and the eye of the camel.

It is not that simply because a man is rich that he will struggle to enter Heaven, but because the condition of his heart and mind in pursuing riches makes it all the less likely. So, what is the condition of your heart that you cheer when the meek and vulnerable are lied to and exploited as a human prop in some sort of political stunt? Do you not even stop and pause to think that this is most certainly not Christ-like. Or, for that matter, not even when it was a church who took these people in?

I say to you now. Your faith has not made politics better. But politics has certainly made your faith worse. And, for some of you, robbed you of your rightful place in Heaven.

Nobody carrying around a heart full of hate and fear is walking with Christ. It is baggage. Deadly baggage. And the last few years has made so many Christian hearts full of it, but because we convince ourselves we're standing up for a political party that ostensibly stands for Christianity, that we're okay.

Are you really comfortable leveraging your soul on that bet?

Ask yourself this. What position would Christ take? Would he say, "Yes, this is good because you're taking a stand on illegal immigration and using these people in the stunt is fine." Or would he say, "Your anger on this issue has blinded you to my call to love your neighbor."

It's possible to take a position on illegal immigration, border security, crime, and taxpayer resources and maintain a Christ-like attitude, but not this way. And, the joy you have taken in watching these theatrics because of the political victory it scored suggest you are yoked to the wrong ox. The master you serve is not in Heaven, but in D.C., or Austin, or Tallahassee.

I hope you reflect and pray on this, rather than hide behind the ole "what about the log in your eye Jimmy?" as if calling out someone's own shortcomings saves you from your own. I'm fully aware of foibles, and strive daily to work on them. Are you working on your own? Are you confident that the condition of your heart and mind still has you on the path for salvation? Are your politics glorifying God, or disgracing him?

Think on it.

Seems like old times. REAL old times. Fortunately, God has spoken on the matter.

Leviticus 19:34
The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus 19:18
“‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

Sorry to derail your thread so early….

But everybody in society today seeks to make more money and become more wealthy.

That alone makes Jesus message irrelevant and impossible to follow.

Totally different world we live in today.

Ask our head coach who claims to follow Jesus why he just took 115 million to coach football….

I read the whole thing and agree with it which is why I TU’d it. Just wanted to point that out. Literally everybody today seeks more money out of a desire to live comfortably and not worry.

That goes directly against what Jesus taught.

Jesus didn't say it was impossible for a rich man to get into Heaven, just harder. If you're wealthy, keep your heart focused on treasure in Heaven and not Earth, and use your riches to glorify God, I don't see how that's contrary to Biblical teachings. I'm guessing your alluding to selling all of your possessions and following Christ, but I'm not sure if that's a literal command; or, at least, we can definitely pull from it the spirit of the command in how we live with material wealth.

The same way in that you can want better border security without exploiting people to make your point.

I can see why people wouldn’t want to take Jesus literally there.

The problem is that’s literally what he and his followers did.

Jesus said do not worry about what you will eat or wear. Who doesn’t worry about putting food on the table and clothes on their back?

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the templeand said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’”Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him. - Matthew 4:1-11 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew4:1-11&version=ESV

It's not just today. This is Hosea in the middle of a 14-chapter tirade on how the privileged exploit the underprivileged in 800 BCE. In this case, the nouveau riche of Northern Israel (Ephraim).

Hosea 12:8
Ephraim boasts, “I am very rich; I have become wealthy. With all my wealth they will not find in me any iniquity or sin.”

People are the same. Then, now, tomorrow.

None of us are going to heaven or hell. Those are just fictional places made up by man. Fiction. Nobody know what happens when we die. What happens to a dog when thendog dies, or a deer? Be free. It doesnt matter. Just do right while you are here on Earth. We are all going to the same place. Maybe nowhwere, maybe something new.

As part of the 1993 "Declaration Toward a Global Ethic", 143 leaders of the world's major faiths endorsed the Golden Rule... it is "a concept that essentially no religion misses entirely" [and can be] "found in some form in almost every ethical tradition".

People don't agree on much, but that idea is as close to unanimous as any.

yet never quote one single verse to show specifically how Jesus would view illegal immigration. Before you accuse me of being against or for any political position you should know, God delivered me from politics, several times. I enjoy being in deliverance right now and have no intent on being enticed to return to the damnable topic.

I've been reading the scripture for near 66 years now and find no place within where Jesus took a political position on anything. I know only that he told a crowd, as in Mark's testimony in the 12th chapter to, 'Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and unto God that which is God's...'

He position wasn't one of the typical Jew in that day. The Pharisees played politics, being between the sheets with Rome so they might maintain their positions as spiritual leaders thereby giving them power over the Jews in their areas.

That verse in Mark includes "...and they marveled." They marveled that He told them to obey the law. Nowhere and at no time did He take a political position and neither did His apostle nor the Church of that day, the First Church. It's just not part of Christ's teaching. He was explicit on how we are to treat individuals but extrapolating from that does not draw conclusions on political issues.

You realize that "God so loved the world..." His love does not respect which political position one takes. He loved the NAZI who invaded Europe as much as the Allies who fought against them. He loved the Communist who took Cuba as much as the capitalist who fought against them.

His instructions to us is that we obey the law. That might include immigrants too but being that I'm not an immigrant I couldn't say. It's my duty to obey the law.

It seems to me that both sides of politics think God is on their side. I think both sides should abandon their politics and get on God's side.

immigration because nothing about what I posted has anything to do about the literal legal status of a person's existence. It has everything to do with lying, swindling, and taking advantage of a vulnerable group of people, and that so-called Christians are celebrating what happened and take no issue with how it happened.

In your 66 years of reading scripture, do you think Christ would say what and how DeSantis did was in line with the Gospel?

There is also the bigger picture you're missing from what I posted. Again, in your 66 years of reading scripture, do you think Christ would be okay with the Evangelical church deifying a man as "second to Christ" but who is as amoral as they come, and clearly not a Christian?

I do not believe He would side with either political party now. Maybe your view of Jesus is that He adopts what you see a right in your own eyes. How about you do a google search on 'did what was right in their own eyes,' and read what the Bible says about it?

Your contention is that Christ is relative to man. That is a foundational flaw. I'm not arguing politics with you. It's foolish but I would love if you sought Jesus wholeheartly and allowed Him to influence your life more than some spin doctors on TV news or new papers.

We don't certify the Truth. The Truth certifies us but only before The Father.

Nor was I commenting on illegal immigration as a Biblical construct.

Nor was I calling you out specifically.

That's 0-3 on what you said I said, rather than what I said, which is today's politics of fear/hate peddled by the supposed "Christian Right" is grossly, if not heretically, out of step with the Gospel.
