TV Remote

Feb 11, 2021, 8:08 PM

Last night I had the TV on and wanted to change channels. Nothing happened. A few minutes later I had no problem, the remote responded. Then I wanted to change the volume but nothing happened.. A few minutes later I could change the volume. When I wanted to turn the TV off I could not turn it off with the remote so I turned it off with ON/OFF on the TV. I went to bed wondering what was wrong with the remote or the TV. Then, like a lightening bolt, I said to old Joe21, "Hey stupid, I believe the remote needs new AAA batteries". Problem solved.

But before I went to sleep I did a little pondering. Almost everything in this old world would eventually cease operating if we had no replacement batteries.

I get a kick how toys come with batteries now. They wer not included when I was a kid. In fact Stephen Wright had a joke I loved- " I went to but batteries at the store but when I got home I found they werent included."

One of my favorite things that will always work and be available to me is my fishing pole. Never needed any batteries to catch fish.

Many years ago, the remote was wired to the tv and before that, when a channel needed to be changed it was the kids that had to get up and change it. Didn't need batteries then!!!!

Way to defuse the issue, Joe. I have had the same problem with a TV remote. Sort of basic for the 'old guard', I sense.--

Why is it now common to see stores devoted to selling essentially nothing but batteries? Do we have that many more battery powered devices than in the past? Must be?
