Just for fun - any chance ND doesn’t make the playoffs??

What would it take?

I’m not saying any of this would happen. But speculating what it would take for ND to get passed up for TAMU or someone else. 10 point loss, 24 point loss? I think it would have to be an absolutely dominate performance by Clemson and a large margin of victory on the order of 3 TDs.

I don’t think enough could happen for them to not make the playoff. If Clemson shuts them out today we might have some talking heads discuss the subject but it simply won’t happen. Notre Dame is in.

It seems like for TAMU to get in over ND, ND would need to lose worse than TAMU did to Alabama. I know it isn’t commutative property. But TAMU losing to Alabama by 28, ND would have to have a “worse loss”... maybe that’s a path.

ND is in the playoff. That is a good thing. I see them being four and playing Bama in New Orleans. Tigers will be number two after today’s double digit win and likely will play the fighting Soapberrys.

the SEC lobby would have a chance of Texas A&M jumping them, if we beat them badly today. But, I think the reality is, even though we don't consider them true ACC, with a close game, the four will be:

Bama
Clemson
Ohio State (Nondeservedly)
Notre Dame

It will be Notre Dame's one and only year in the ACC, and will also be the one and only time the ACC gets two teams in.

If we beat the tar out of ND with TL at QB, I believe they are done.

No one will want to see what happens a 3rd time.

The committee would not put the Irish in the same group as Clemson. Irish will be fourth with a loss and the Tigers likely would be two.
