Fantastic Coach and a Clemson Man with two degrees!
Maybe this will stop all those winers complaining about Dabo’s coaching staff.
This is the best coaching staff I can remember at Clemson! Dabo knows!

Our Defense should be solid again in 2022, the offense has to improve for us to be successful. It will!

Go Tigers! Can’t wait for the spring game and Georgia Tech in Atlanta! Wreck Tech!!

do you guys think it is ironic that dabo gave him a coordinator title as a jab to Todd bates because he wanted to be defensive coordinator and went to oklahoma rather than staying at clemson I find very interesting that he gave him the title of run game coordinator as well as defensive tackles coach.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

no....

You clearly don’t know Dabo… or the meaning of integrity.

..:: ru4god2 ::..

You folks are hilarious with your worship of Dabo.

Jan 7, 2022, 10:02 AM

And if he did that it’s not a lack of integrity. Dabo is incredibly competitive and he’s not perfect. The man curses the man drinks and has other things people like you would find as a fault. But us other mortals know are perfectly normal traits that everyone has.

Dabo takes a jab plenty of times at other people and other programs. If you think something like that is beyond Dabo you need some counseling.

And he did not make Eason the DC. But run game coordinator. It’s a little thing. It’s subtle. But that’s exactly the type of thing he would do. Something subtle but it makes a point.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wholeheartedly agree w you…

Jan 7, 2022, 10:07 AM

No doubt there was a subtle jab at Bates with the title as well as the comment about this making us better.

Dabo is a competitive man and I bet if we could get him at a at for a beer, he would tell us that Bates screwed him over.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Skalski had to run to the sideline to Bates during the 4th

Jan 7, 2022, 10:28 AM

quarter of the Syracuse game because Bates had not sent out the entire defense. I've never seen a Clemson defensive player and leader that angry at a coach.

Eason will be a game changer and mentor for our DL.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I just don't see Dabo playing those games.

Jan 7, 2022, 7:02 PM [ in reply to I wholeheartedly agree w you… ]

I don't think Nick's title and responsibilities have a single thing to do with Todd Bates, or taking a shot at him.

I also don't think Bates was devious about any of this. Sometimes career decisions are hard, and I don't feel like Dabo would say Bates "screwed him over" or feel a need for "revenge" of any kind.

The Venables move came quick once Riley upset the status quo. If Brent was ever going to leave, this was the job. The stars aligned that way, and unfortunately it threw us in state of rapid change.

Change normally happens at a rate higher than we've been fortunate to have to deal with here in awhile, but change is inevitable.

Re: You folks are hilarious with your worship of Dabo.

Jan 7, 2022, 10:49 AM [ in reply to You folks are hilarious with your worship of Dabo. ]

I would be very careful with your comments. Dabo has often talked about the problems alcohol caused in his life with his brother and deceased father. Unless you are his close friend and have personally seen him drink, don't make assumptions because I don't believe this is true. Although I would have absolutely no problem with it and think no less of him if he did.

RU4GOD2you are correct but perhaps a bit harsh to lbeagle74.

I usually see it as my domain to be TNet's resident crab.

But no doubt that Dabo doesn't take cheap shot moves simply to show up an ex-assistant coach who did a fine job for us. There are few among us who have the sense-of-self grounding to truly move on from people who don't want to be with us, and it sure seems like Dabo is one of those rare people.

I think the title might be seen as a way to make our program more consistent with the NFL in terminology. If part of the reason for hiring successful NFL coaches is to attract elite players and prepare them for the League, then why not introduce them to some of that terminology at the collegiate level. Could help in recruiting. If you were a potential recruit, would you rather play for the "run game coordinator", or "the guy that coaches our tackles"?

Re: another legacy? Spillerrite may be right

Jan 7, 2022, 11:02 AM [ in reply to another legacy? Spillerrite may be right ]

A man doesn't inherit the program he inherited and turns that into 11 seasons in a row of at least 10 wins without knowing how to coach and create a sustainable culture. I think the biggest threat is in regards to recruiting. It is not a coincidence that our streak of winning parallels our streak of Top 15 recruiting classes. As long as we can continue to attract top talent, I believe Dabo has put in place the culture and the structure to continue to be successful at a high level.

I think the only thing that would derail us would be if we start to fall off on getting the recruits we want. We know how to make top talent even better. You just don't want to have to lower the standard and have to try and make average talent better. That's how you go from 10-2 seasons to 7-5 seasons. I don't see this happening at Clemson as long as Dabo sticks to doing what he does best.

My biggest concern around recruiting is the way we manage NIL and the portal. Those are big threats to the way we have recruited in the past and if we fall behind in these areas, we will be less competitive in getting the players we really covet.

I agree. We have the talent with Bresee, Tre, TD (if he returns), Ruke, etc. If Coach E can add a little edge to go with that talent these guys might be unstoppable. That edge will also carry over to the DEs where we also have great talent but maybe lacking that edginess just a little as well. Can’t wait to see this DL next year. Go Tigers!!

This makes me feel so old. I remember it like it was yesterday looking over there at Nick Eason during the Spring game the year he was recruited and thinking how big a boy he was sitting there with family and when I got his autograph after the game was over.Time flies, but the memories remain. I lost my brother in law last November and he was my biggest Clemson buddy. He would have loved how the season ended and he would be excited about this too.We laid him to rest the day we plucked the Shamecocks ,and I know he was looking down.Remember this people,be blessed with continuity and realize we can't win a national title every year.We have been beyond blessed with our Tigers over the last decade. Some fans never get the chance.Cluck,cluck.

“In this hire, I really wanted a guy who had great experience at the NFL level. I wanted somebody who has coached the best of the best at the highest level, and that’s exactly what he’s done.”

Oh really Dabo, that’s exactly what you were looking for huh? Who cares if the other coaches had experience, you just wanted your defensive tackles coach to be well traveled. Offensive coordinator, nope. Qb coach, nope. WR coach, nope. O line coach, nope. But the defensive tackles coach just had to have coached at the highest level. Sure Dabo.

Lol out loud.

Jan 7, 2022, 8:40 PM

But excited about getting Eason! I’m sure Dabo had a plan but getting Eason was a coup, and I think he’ll take over where Bates left off and move us onward and upward. Good Clemson man, and love the way Dabo is also filling our staff with people who believe in Clemson at the deepest level, those who came from here! He should have a great impact on recruiting as well.

Roar Tigers!
