Judge Lagoa

I think her greatest attribute is something beyond her control, she was raised by people fleeing the type of government democrats want for America. I have a friend who lives in southern florida and has since he was very young. I met him in the mid 1960s when I lived in West Palm.

His dad owned a 5 star restaurant in Cuba and his mom owned a high end beauty shop as they were called back then. The children of the working class who fled Cuba and Castro were well aware of the situation there.

They saw the slaughter of their neighbors, the nationalization of their businesses and their jobs given to political friends of the new regime. She would make a fantastic justice, I have no doubt. Imo, her life experience is more valuable in her decisions than any court precedence.

Dems don't need an excuse to vote no.They routinely do that regardless of the qualifications of the judge. While perfectly legal, I think it is hypocritical for the GOP to push this through this close to the election when they argued so strongly about not doing so 10 months left in Obama's term. Having said that, the Dems would definitely do the same if they had the White House and the Senate--no doubt. Both sides are FOS. The Dems used the threat of the filibuster to blow up Tim Scott's bill on police reform and on Corona virus relief. Yet, in the same breath, they talk of eliminating the filibuster if they gain control of the Senate and win the White House. So, if Joe can remember to sign his name to the bill, they can do any and everything they want such as making DC and Puerto Rico states, stacking the SCOTUS and passing the Green New Deal. A pure democracy where a simple majority rules makes for potential tyranny against the minority. We're in a #### mess. We need term limits now more than ever so that normal people can sit down and figure out how to get things done rather than trying to screw each other over. I'm not sure this vacancy on the Court helps Trump. It may actually cost the GOP the Senate which is actually probably a worse outcome in my view than Trump losing. Joe won't have any radical legislation to sign as long as the Senate remains in the hands of the GOP.
