John Deere Classic

Jun 28, 2022, 2:43 PM

Five Tigers are in the field, Lucas, Doc, JByrd, Ben and DJ. Hopefully, our guys can benefit from a less than stellar field and move up in the rankings. Lucas won this event last year.

Does the winner get a pass to the British Open like in the past?

Yes! Hopefully one of our own. Hard to believe it was a year ago when Lucas won.

There are five events on the PGA TOUR this season that are part of the Open Qualifying Series.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational offered spots to the top 3 golfers, not already exempt, that finished in the top 10.

The RBC Canadian Open offered spots to the top 2 golfers, not already exempt, that finished in the top 8.

The John Deere Classic is offering spots to the top 3 golfers, not already exempt, that finish in the top 10.

The Genesis Scottish Open is offering spots to the top 3 golfers, not already exempt, that finish in the top 10.

The Barbasol Championship is offering a spot to the top golfer, not already exempt, that finishes in the top 5.

Thanks @marshall

Alice Hewson is playing in the Amundi German Masters Fri-Mon.

Then our Korn Ferry boys are in Colorado. 3, Jacob, Carson, and Sam. Corbin Mills tried to qualify but didn't.

Bryson Nimmer is in Canada.

The PGA Tour announced today that the KFT will award 30 tour cards rather than 25 each year. This will take effect in 2023. If I understood the announcement correctly it also appears that they are going to reinstitute Q School and award tour cards to the top 5 finishers there. Hopefully, some of our guys can take advantage of these increased opportunities.

Yeah, it sounds great. If I understand correctly, KFT Q School will still happen like normal, but the top 5 will move on to the PGA TOUR and bypass the KFT. At least, that is how I think it will work.

I think you’re right. I didn’t understand the reasoning at first, but I guess it will offer an expedited route for the very best college players to earn tour status without having to play a full season on the KFT.

Surprised we didn't hear about any domestic violence issues in the Glover household this past week considering how poor he did last weekend.
