Joel Klatt had an interesting observation about Kirby Smart

and Georgia recently on the Colin Cowherd Show. Basic point was that they moved away from JT Daniels over the course of the season and relied more on Stetson Bennett. They should have been developing their downfield passing game with JT during that time so that they could be better prepared for Alabama and the playoffs.

"better prepared for Bama." I cant even envision such a thing. They crater from the mention of the word

That's the truth! Georgia's so intimidated by Alabama.***

still seems odd that JT Daniels just hasnt played at all

after his "recovery" from injury. Maybe he isnt as good as everyone thinks he is?

I actually thought UGA moved the ball very well on Bama and Bennett threw 350 yards against a top 10 defense.....thats pretty solid.

In the 2nd half, they had 3 drives deep inside Bama territory and came up empty with one of those actually resulting in a TD (I think Bowers caught that one pass) but called incomplete...a few plays later there was an INT.

The real issue was that UGA could not run on Bama and their defense getting absolutely torched downfield.

He threw a pick at the Bama 19 yard line and pick 6 both in

the second half. Those were huge. Bama only ran for 6 more yards than Georgia. Bennett had to throw it almost 50 times to get 350 yards and could only muster 24 points.

I agree that Bama torched Georgia in the downfield passing game. As Klatt alluded to, that was what was missing from Georgia's offense. Both teams had to throw the ball to win and only one had the QB that could do it.

UGA cant win with Bennett. Yea, he's no Heisman winner but I dont think the Dawgs are so far off that its a lost cause.

Going back to that first INT...Bama just hit a bomb to make it 31-17 and Bennett leads them downfield on that drive going 4-4 passing until the Bowers incompletion, which was a 31 yard strike down the middle that Bowers couldn't hold onto when he hit the ground. A few plays later its an INT but had Bowers held on, its 31-24 and a game again. Even after the pick 6, Bennett comes out and goes 5-6 on the next drive for 70 yards and gets the Dawgs back in the game.

He's not Bryce Young but is still pretty good.

It sounds good in theory, but you also have to gauge the

the locker room. If most of the players and team leaders were all in on Bennett, I'm not sure you can make the move because it's not like Bennett was playing poorly at all. He's currently 4th in the nation in QBR.

I doubt the locker room was all in on Bennett, but we really

have no idea about that. It does, however, remind me of the support Kelly Bryant had in the locker room before Dabo went with Lawrence and we won the National Championship.

That's coaching. Probably Dabo's best coaching job.

This is why Clemson will always be Bamas kryptonite we’ve never been intimated by them, and never played there game. We went into the game and made them adjust to us, this is why bama always beats everyone else they are so worried about what bama will do they forget who they are.
