will light us up if our defensive ends fail to generate pressure. Their performance this season hasn't been great and Venables has to blitz a lot to make up for the unexplosiveness of the ends.

I've had this exact same thought. LSU is scary good.
Be hopeful though. Everyone thought the same about Tua last year and we know how Venables handled that.

Seems to me Joe Burrow is destroying all the same teams Alabama destroyed by 29.1 ppg last season! Burrow, has looked great, but how much credit are you giving to the opponents. For years in the SEC it wasn't about lean pass rush guys - it was about heavier DE's who could pressure the QB at least but mostly be able to stand up to the run. I don't think it's a DE thing with Burrow!
More important than DE pressure is pressure up the middle. Look at how many times he is in a clean pocket. He is a good athlete - but we won't rush him recklessly. We would want him to move his feet which makes him hold it which gives our DE's more time to get to him. And our secondary more time to cover!
Middle pressure is a greater need i.m.o than edge pressure against Burrow! Double A gap blitz's or hopefully Tyler Davis plays out of his mind. Him or Jordan or Nyles. Or if necessary our fastest LB not named I. Simmons who we will need in pass coverage! May be a Mike Jones game if we are going to blitz.
By the time we play - I suspect it will be repped and repped more.................then repped even more after that! The extra time will be far more beneficial for us than it will be to them!
