Jobs involving Clemson football?

Jun 6, 2013, 11:33 PM

I'm a upcoming college sophomore and I've been studying Athletic Training. I don't really know if that's what I want to do but what I do know (as crazy as it may seem) I really would love doing something that involved Clemson football. Now contrary to my own belief, I'm not the next Chad Morris and I realize that it's a slim shot of getting in to something like this (even though I definitely could write some better articles than ole Heather Dinich). I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or past experiences that may help provide some clarity.

Thanks! Go Tigers!

I think a lot of the positions for this coming season have been filled unfortunately. But I could be wrong, equipment staff may still be looking for people. My roommate's friend works with the camera crew, filming practices and some game stuff. And one of my buddies who just graduated spent 4 years working with the equipment staff. (That's probably a little more up your alley if you're studying athletic training.) He said he emailed a higher up in the football offices and asked about it and got the job before his freshman year.

I'll warn you that working with the team is a huge commitment. My friend would get to the stadium at 6 am for noon games and work until like 8 pm washing cleats, gloves, uniforms, etc. You're on the clock the whole time and you get like over $10/hour so you make good money but you have to travel to away games and commit to most practices as well. It's a great way to be around the coaches and players. He said he became pretty good friends with Dwayne Allen in his time with the equipment staff.

Unfortunately, I don't know exactly who to contact but those are some of the options.

Try this: Abe Reed (abraham@clemson.edu)

He is listed as the Director of Equipment for football. If he isn't the guy he might know who to talk to.

Here's the rest of the website if you want to look at it: http://www.clemsontigers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=28500&ATCLID=205504944

Are you interested in the conditioning or medical support

Jun 7, 2013, 12:42 AM

Obviously Joey Batson if you are interested in the conditioning. I'm not sure who replaced Fred Hoover (the trainer from the early 60s-90s) if you are interested in the area I call medical support. You would tape a lot of ankles and support a lot of ice packs. Just looked it up Danny Poole seems to have replaced Fred Hoover.
