Unless this is some toxic water issue, or even if it is, you can thank a lawyer.

Lanier doesn’t need Margaritaville to pollute & drown people

Gwinnett opens gates on water reclamation effort to Lanier

From 2010 … Lake Lanier (North Georgia) article about the wondrous program for Gwinnett County, GA to return 40,000,000 gallons per day of partially treated sewage back to Lake Lanier in a condition that is ‘better than what the original water was from Lake Lanier.

All of this sounds great, if you just read the article and accept its conclusions.

(?) If Gwinnett County was discharging such wonderfully ‘pure’ sewage back to Lake Lanier, then why didn’t they just recycle this ‘largely purified’ water back into their municipal water supply ‘final’ purification system?

L.Lanier didn’t need any Margaritaville water park if the objective was to get polluted and drown.

Staying out of the water and getting sunburned sounds like a better option.

Tell me you don't understand a thing about wastewater

treatment without telling me you don't understand a thing about wastewater treatment.

Because of gravity. Wastewater is collected to low lying areas, discharged back into waterways or bodies of water. Water treatment is a chemical and filtering process, it would be very expensive to add the additional treatment for drinking water standards, then very expensive to pump that water back uphill to the nearest tank or into the pressure zone.
