Jack deserves a little respect

Apr 21, 2015, 10:16 AM

He has taken Clemson to more CWS than Clemson went to all the years before he got there. He has only missed the post-season one time. If the yard birds hadn't won those couple of National Championships most of the bums on this board would still be on Jacks sack. Jack is Clemson baseball and should have the respect of you so called "fans." Hall of Famer in my book. #backjack

In all fairness, Jack has been great for Tnet and its parent company google. The amount traffic on this site raised brumps stock at least 12 points.

That's an excellent point

maybe the mods have more pull behind the scenes with DRad to keep Jack hired than we think?

Actually I believe both Jack and Bill Willhelm took the Tigers to the CWS 6 times. I may be off one.

I am happy for what he has done but I still look at our championship count under him and believe he has under achieved.

He has been a good/great coach while at Clemson. I think we need an elite coach.

Apr 21, 2015, 10:24 AM

He built an elite program, but didnt know when to give it up and hurt the program by doing so. Yes he was once great. Now hes a hindrance.

if Jack's program,didn't fall

Apr 21, 2015, 10:24 AM

The yard birds could n't have won those national championships

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How do you figure?

Apr 21, 2015, 12:47 PM

It's hard to rationally claim SCAR's ascendance in baseball occured because of our decline... in fact, a much stronger case can be made that SCAR's ascendance actually caused our decline.

The first time they won the title, we had already beaten them 2 out of 3 in the regular season and we were cruising along in the driver's seat at the CWS when they caught fire and came back and beat us twice to reach the final game and then won the championship from out of the loser's bracket.

Granted, the two programs certainly took different trajectories after that, but SCAR has accomplished what they have in baseball with little or no influence by the issues in Clemson's program.

If Jack was in the real world with a real job he would have already been fired....based on these numbers which have trended down each year (instead of up)since becoming head coach 20 years ago...He needs to retire or be fired....Go Tigers!!!!!

Give it up, ORNG.

The tools on this board are only interested in circle-jerking each other with "Fire Jack" posts. In fact, unless you hijack threads with that lame mantra you aren't allowed into their cool-guy, circle-jerk club.

You are barking up the wrong tree here, bud.

Jack doesn't give respect to others (coaches, especially) so why should he deserve respect?
It's time for him to go.
He has methodically run this program into the ground.

Apr 22, 2015, 8:06 AM

SCU does, I care what Clemson does. The slow decline and poor fundamentals have been happening since 2002-03. The head man is responsible and if he can't fix it replace him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Saying Thank you for your Service to the University, but

Apr 22, 2015, 8:11 AM

we need to move in a different direction, is not a lack of respect. It is a response to recent performance, and an ongoing downward trend. Those of us who truly love Clemson want to see us succeed in all areas, especially in one where our historical standard is much better than this. Definitely time to put Jack out to pasture if he won't go willingly.

This thread reminds me of the old days watching Frank Howard in his final years. Geez - that was painful.

Maybe Jack could "take one for the team" and ... well...
