Oregon football an "unlimited NIL budget". He wants to buy a championship. College football is in fine shape. Just dandy.

Yeah but Oregon still won’t win it all. I would bet money he is just FBS Jerry Jones with too much money and a feeling of entitlement to a title bc of that money. He could easily pass on before they do win it.

So much money is being funneled into this young generation without results. Only one team wins it all each year, and how many have never won it all? So many are so close because of their conference but will never win it.

How many athletes are being paid millions and will never even deliver a championship? I think this money will dry up and lessen into star status money, except for the coming school payments them of course.

All of those headlines are based on something Rick Neuheisel said on his radio show recently. There's no actual evidence that Oregon has anything close to an unlimited NIL budget. Their recruiting classes are looking good, but not "blank check" good. They don't even have a single 5-star recruit in their 2024 class. Miami has 3 of them.

It does not work that way as you will see this fall but if Oregon wins it all it will be what it will be. Life goes on.

VB you need to get out of that bubble of naivety. Wake up I’m afraid things will not end up like you think they will. Love the optimism though but unless someone enforces actual rules this will not end up like I believe most would hope which is fair and competitive competition.

Intentions vs. what is actually taking place are not the same thing.

I assumed this was already happening and a big reason for Oregon's recent ascendance and collection of player talent.

Reggie Jackson was asked, how could a team with the Yankees payroll lose a playoff game to a team with unknown players. Jackson replied, you can't always buy championships. He then said, money isn't everything. Sometimes it takes more.

I believe Dabo has said, we can't afford some of these guys, so If we're destined to lose this NIL war, I guess I'd rather have guys that are going to play with heart, desire, and determination. The combination of those three things can overcome a lot of point spreads.

Well, I guess a 9-4 season ceiling and a deceit bowl is good enough now at Clemson. As long as we don't pay the players or use the portal, we can't do that. Only coaches are entitled to enrich themselves; they've earned it.

Never said mediocrity was good enough for Clemson. But tell me, what would you do, if you were running the football team? How would you take Clemson to the heights, that Dabo has? And to my understanding, Clemson has been to the portal, just couldn’t snag anyone. And he is using the NIL, but it’s to hang on to players that have already proven their worth, not to take a shot in the dark, on some guy that may not pan out. Makes more sense to me.

He might be doing the world a favor. Take NIL to its extreme end and this is what one gets. Does this accelerate some thoughtful, reasonable counteraction that would see college football return to something more recognizable?
