Bonus points if you can find the word "democracy" or "democratic" in our Constitution, or in the Declaration of Independence. You CAN find it in the Federalists Papers, and universally mentioned in unflattering terms. You can also find republic in our Constitution. Article 4, section 4.
Go here:
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/1404/1404-h/1404-h.htm
Search for the word democracy. Read the context. Learn something.
A republic gives us the United States of America, the result of the American Revolution. A democracy gives you the Reign of Terror, the result of the French Revolution.

Well said lad.
We are a constitutional republic. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Because that system doesn't support a democracy or a republic. Y'all keep wanting an executive to have too much power.

“ One of this age’s great crank ideas, that the U.S. is a “republic” and not a “democracy,” is gaining so much ground that people in Michigan are trying to rewrite textbooks to get rid of the term “democracy.” And the discussion is such a mess that a New York Times article about the fight manages to get it wrong.
The truth is actually simple: For all practical purposes, and in most contexts, “republic” and “democracy” are synonyms. 1 The big difference is that the first comes from Latin and the latter from Greek. To say that the U.S. is a republic, not a democracy, is like claiming to eat beef and pork but not cows and pigs.” https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2019-04-11/is-u-s-republic-or-democracy-why-some-conservatives-pick-a-side
