I've been watching all this alum, non alum stuff...........

for awhile now. You'll first notice that a hardly ever post anything but feel the need to respond.
I am NOT a Clemson alum. I'll get that out of the way first.
I have been an IPTAY member for 36 years. I have put a daughter through Clemson. She married a Clemson alum. I have a brother that graduated Clemson. I've been to Phoenix, Charlotte, Blacksburg, Chapel Hill, Tallahassee, Athens, Charlottesville, College Park, Durham, Wake Forest, Columbia, Jacksonville and Lord knows where else following my Tigers.
Just because your mommy and daddy put you through the best university in the nation gives you no right to tell me I am or am not a true Clemson fan.

As an Alum and 3rd Generation Alum, anyone that tells you you have to be a Clemson Grad to be a Tiger fan or that the level of passion is dictated by being a grad is mistaken. Ive seen just as many fair weather Alumni as Ive seen Diehard Non-Alums.
The one point that MAY have Merit just from a logical standpoint is Grads may potentially see a bigger picture as Clemson University vs. Clemson Football when discussing varying topics. Regardless of if that's true or not dont let anyone discount your fanhood, Clemson will take as many supporters as we can get.

Clemson grads don't care who you are as long as you love Clemson. Now get past your rants before you offend those of us who worked with children while we earned our Clemson diplomas.
Do you honestly think we ask people about their qualifications when we meet them? Someone says 'GO TIGERS,' and I ask, "Are you a Graduate of Clemson? Cause if you're not a graduate I'm not going to return the 'GO TIGERS and you're not going to share in the fellowship."
You ever had anyone at a tailgate turn you away because you didn't qualify as a fan? Lose the emotion and use your brain.

... not just those who attended or graduated from Clemson.
The more people following The Tigers and commenting/questioning/criticizing/praising most things related to Clemson athletics the better regardless of one's affiliation.
I do sometimes get a little miffed listening to non-graduates expressing opinions on academic issues and University decisions regarding player eligibility, or granting academic exceptions to athletes while arguing that other schools do it or would do it. If you're not a student/graduate or at least paying tuition for a student/graduate you probably shouldn't have any say-so in these areas.
That's what I think, anyway.

If Clemson had done what UNC did and was caught.
Would you be more mad about the penalties the Athletic Dept would get?
Would you be more mad about the damage to the academic integrity of the university?
Are they equal?
That defines where you stand on Clemson to me. It does not restrict fans just makes our viewpoints different. Go Tigers!
