He might be slightly better but not enough to stay in the lineup. You can deal with a catcher that can’t hit as long as he’s a backstop behind the plate. But when he’s made of Swiss cheese AND can’t hit, it’s time to move on.

Ingle could only be moderately worse behind the plate but his bat more than makes up for it. Then we can find another DH that can actually hit.

Ingle has caught 4 games in his career. French has shown over a season plus that he isn’t reliable behind the plate. He just had another passed ball and the only run they have today is because of a passed ball. There’s no way to know if Ingle is worse after the small sample size, and he would have to be really terrible to be worse defensively.

I think he needs to change his hitting approach.

He’s always aiming for the HR.

His right knee has to be filthy. Every 3rd strike swinging on a change up he ends up kneeling on it.

Does that home run change the previous 8 3/4 games? Or the entire last season? Don’t get me wrong I’m stoked he tied the game, but he had struck out 3 times before that and his passed ball was the reason we were losing. His power is his only attribute that plays at this level.
