What happens if DJ doesn’t declare for NFL??

Sep 19, 2022, 4:32 PM

Imo DJs arm talent is second to none and is absolutely NFL ready. Might have a hard time with the speed and complex defenses but if he’s given a good line and a spread offense he would succeed very well in the NFL. What happens if he decides to better his draft grade considering last years performance and comes back for his senior year??? Would hate to see him transfer and if he does will be pulling for him but also don’t want Cade to transfer which I seriously doubt he will since he dreamed of playing for Clemson.

We will see how things turn out this season. I have to admit, after Game 1, I was convinced Cade was the better QB; but now, after 3 games, it's hard to tell who puts us in a better position to win - based on how they've looked in Game 2 & 3, DJ looks to be the guy. Maybe Cade would just need to get into the groove of the game to look better - Not sure, just need to Win and hopefully can start looking like a Top 4 team before the end of the season.

It's not even close.

DJ is much better than Cade at this point.

Cade has a ways to go.

Decision making isn't affected by who you are playing with. It can rear it's ugly head regardless

DJ has a golden arm ... don't see how anyone could miss that.

His accuracy suffers when his feet aren't set (like most QBs are inaccurate when the footwork is deficient), but his feet are better this year and ... poof ... so is his accuracy.

But back to a gun, DJ doesn't need any windup to get the ball out and move it fast. Flicks it and away it goes. That's arm talent.

How about if the Vizzina QB comes in and beats out DJ and Cade, what then?

Let's all "worry" about things that will likely never happen and we can't control! LOL

Seriously, have you considered where you would live if your home was demolished by a meteor? It's probably worth considering and just as likely.

Re: What happens if DJ doesn’t declare for NFL??

Fortunately, there’s a whole lot of college football left to be played. Re: DJ’s future / football on Sundays (sigh). The NFL is notoriously unsympathetic to QBs who cannot process the game quickly. Jamarcus Russell had a really strong arm too. How’d that turn out? Wasn’t just from the purple drank.

The game on Sundays is so much faster than what DJ is playing right now. Maybe he can land in a better system and get better coaching than what he’s getting at Clemson. I realize that last statement is a softball for a hundred keyboard warrior jokes but I mean that genuinely. I hope for DJ’s sake he gets good, honest feedback on his draft grade at the end of this season. Many recent QBs have seen a big drop from their grade and when they ultimately get drafted. Regardless, I’m pulling for him this year. The better he does, the better Clemson does.

Jamarcus Russell vs. DJ ... J.Russell was a categorical moron. DJ is pretty smart, and instead of simply relying on natural talent (as he did in HS), he's clearly working hard to make himself better both physically and mentally.

DJ will keep getting better and better, which will complement his natural talents.

I just hope that Jamarcus Russell isn't on public assistance these days.

I seriously doubt DJ will ever play a down in the NFL. He may be drafted on his ability to throw the ball but he's a statue compared to NFL linemen and LBs. A pitching machine might be just as effective.

Then they competebin the Spring and it is DJ's to lose. Cade can take it though.

Compare DJ to Tahj, who barely got a sniff of the NFL...

Sep 19, 2022, 8:14 PM

at this point, DJ is still well behind Tahj in most categories...so, without a lot of improvement, DJ's future in the NFL doesn't look great!

Re: What happens if DJ doesn’t declare for NFL??

Sep 20, 2022, 12:15 AM

Do people just not have a clue what it takes to succeed in the NFL as a quarterback? 90% of our best QBs in history never got a sniff of playing time in the League. They're even calling for Trevor's head in Jacksonville, and DJ isn't even a shadow of Trevor. DJ has the height and the arm strength, but nothing else they look for in an NFL QB. He might be a second or third day draft pick, but to call his a "golden arm" that "would succeed very well in the NFL" is absolutely absurd.

DJ won't be drafted after this season, he would have to decide if he wants to come back for another season or take far less money as a undrafted free agent, i think he will be back next year.
