Overall, I like Streeter coaching qbs

But after seeing him call plays in the playoffs, I’m not confident that he’d be the best OC for us, if TE left. I think bringing in an outside coach that’s innovative might benefit us.

What's wrong with his play calling vs Ohio State? Our QB threw for 400 yards and had 3tds.

pass the ball for 48 plays. I was glad Trevor put up good numbers but overall it seemed vanilla and we didn’t get the run game involved. What few running plays we did call were basic and the defense was prepared for. Trevor bailed us out a lot and we don’t have that talent at qb anymore and I’m not left with the feeling that Streeter is gonna suddenly get more innovative.

We didn't get the run game involved because we couldn't block them at all.
We couldn't block them on pass plays either, but we were able to do a few things in that area without good blocking.

He had no choice but to pass for 48 plays. Our defense shat the entire bed in the 2nd quarter and we played catch up from that point.

Personally, I don't think Streeter has done a good job

DJ looks behind where he was last year, and Lawrence barely improved from FR to JR season. Taisun P hadn't really improved at all either.
Streeter is the passing game coordinator, and the passing game was far worse than the running game this year.
Overall, I just don't see it with Streeter. I'm also far higher on Elliot than I am on Streeter, and I think Elliot will be missed if hired away.

I hear this all the time.
Trevor Lawrence came in as maybe the most ready-made QB in the history of recruits.
Where exactly did you want Streeter to make these giant improvements in Lawrence's physical game?
Lawrence improved the mental side of his game greatly while he was at Clemson. Streeter gets no credit for that I guess.
You obviously never saw TP play prior to this season if you don't think he improved any since he arrived on campus. He also missed the 6 months leading up to the season because he tore his Achilles.
It's completely ridiculous that people are summing up Streeter's 7 seasons at Clemson into DJ struggling this season.

It's not "completely ridiculous" - it's a valid critique

TLaw did not progress much from his freshman year, and one could argue that he actually regressed following Freshman year. The DJ situation doesn't need to be stated again. It's a valid question to ask. You're very pro Streeter it seems, so why is it intellectually dishonest to play devil's advocate to your current position. I think Streeter needs to be looked at critically based on DJ. If he's responsible for coaching QB play, and QB play has been atrocious, then I think we should discuss him.

Still don't see it. DJ regressed. The worst indictment regarding his coaching was his loss of confidence which was clearly evident against Georgia. He simply did not look prepared. That's coaching.

to read a defense his entire time at Clemson. It was very noticeable at times in college, it was a wide criticism of him at the draft, and he's still having a very difficult time in JAX. You can blame the JAX WRs and coaches, but watching Lawrence in JAX, he still often doesn't know where he's supposed to go with the ball.
I give Taisun a bit of a pass due to the injury, but he was completely incompetent even this year despite this being his 3rd year. DJ's development though is a major concern.
I get that Streeter is a well-liked guy, and there's no changing the opinions of many. I personally don't see it outside of being a great recruiter.

The difference that he made in just that 1 game he had

with Cole Stoudt was unbelievable. I mean Cole looked like a completely different player.
Watson and Lawrence had a ton of success and obviously they were superior talents. I think they both had an outside qb coach that they were working with too so it’s hard to say where they were learning what. Also while Trevor was preparing for the combine he found out that he had been playing the past 2 years with a torn labrum.
Kelly Bryant was a complete project when he arrived. He was a ru first qb all the way but he developed into a decent passer while he was here. Never elite, but he did make a lot of progress as a passer and treading defenses.
DJ is the outlier. He regressed from his 2 starts last year to this season. He doesn’t even look like the same player and I really don’t want to bash him but I just don’t know what has happened.
