He has plenty to be ashamed about instead of that. Stiffing his car repair guy, the way he treated Tim McCarver, and I'm sure there are more. But with him its anything for publicity

Exactly. If he's so concerned why did he leave?

It's interesting his criticism of the NFL for not drafting..

players from HBCU schools - I understand that.
But yet he went to Florida State. Wasn't a HBCU team good enough for him?

I don't love him as a role model, BUT I look at him this way

Deion is hastening the changes to how college football is conceptualized, what rules govern it, how it is governed, etc.
Like Dabo has said, we all know what direction this is moving toward - why not get there asap?
FWIW, I do NOT like what college football is rapidly becoming, but if Deion's actions help move things along to their natural conclusion, I am fine with it.
Also, I expect him to be "successful" at Colorado. They only have one direction to go in. I could see 4 or 5 wins this season and he'd be seen as having helped Colorado.

I think the problem is with the hypocrisy of Deion. Could he not do the same thing at an HBCU? He got the number one player a couple years ago to sign with JSU. He shouldn't be ashamed at the NFL teams for not drafting HBCU players but yet the system from which the NFL drafts their players. I'm sure the overwhelming percentage of players drafted were black. And if that is his ultimate goal then why would it matter what school they came from?
If he was still at JSU I think his argument could have some merit. But when he jumps ship to a lower level P5, D1, predominantly white university, and tries to bring his best players from an HBCU school i think it falls in deaf ears.

I have no particular love or hate for Deion. But him complaining about HBCUs (full-disclosure, I teach at an HBCU), comes across as just a bit disingenuous after he bounced from his at the first chance he got. I'm not really hearing anything he says about it after that.

Robinson these days. That kind of loyalty, longevity, and selflessness just does not exist.

Get used to it. The media knows a good thing when they see it (hear it). Love him or hate him doesn't really enter into it. Every time Coach Prime reaches around to scratches his behind he's gonna poke an ESPN reporter in the eye.

Why would you even listen to anything about Colorado unless you live there? Coach Prime will do a great job because after USC and UCLA leave, the level of competition will be lower.

I honestly don't wish the worst for him.....I'm just curious to see if he will actually succeed. And if he does, I expect this will usher in a "new" generation of HC's.

It's going to get even worse for HBCU colleges, as when their players show promise they are going to enter the transfer portal and go for the NIL money. This is just another result of the NCAA losing any kind of control or guidance over college athletics.

there are specific reasons he left Jackson State that reflect very poorly on the university. Pathetic stuff. He was the best thing that ever happened to their athletic program in decades and they abused it. Google is your friend.
I don't agree with his statements about the NFL draft though. The NFL draft process is very merit-based and teams don't give a care where a guy plays in college. The fact is the best black athletes don't attend HBCUs.

for not drafting any Transgender players or para and quadriplegic players. The NFL is so biased and should be cancelled. Why don't they draft special needs people either?

One Positive thing

Sanders hit the ground running with treating his team as an NFL farm team. He and Saban will single handedly force the NCAA to change the portal and transfer rules. The players have had the upper hand with the Wild West portal for fours years. Saban has already said that the portal works both ways and Sanders has cut players from his team like crazy. Those two are changing the narrative.

I thought Dion would make next season interesting. But now I read only 15 kids are left from last year's team. I now wonder what's going on at Colorado. I did not see a coach turning over his whole roster when the Portal started. Literally his whole roster.
I agree with some of the above post, Dion will force some rule changes regarding the portal.
Is Dion helping these kids land at other schools? Looks like he's just locking them out of the building.
