Let's go Miami, New Mexico St, and Michigan. Me thinks the NCAA props up the SEC in multiple sports because of ESPN influence, but I could be wrong. It used to be that the NCAA basketball tournament was the NCAA's only source of income, but I don't know if that's still true.

Not very but the ACC may have been underrated. As usual there will be about half of the 32 from non Power 5 conferences

It's hard to assign labels to conferences

Based on tourney results. It's so random.
In the sec, bama is feast or famine with the 3 and one of ND's players had the game of his life. LSU just lost their coach and lost a one possession game...Kentucky just laid an egg in the big-time. Still a great team, just didn't execute in crunch time.

LSU just fired their coach and Bama lost their point guard early in that game to a non contact knee injury. Seems I’ve heard that before. Anyway, Bama also beat two #1 seeds this year in Baylor and Gonzaga by a combined 18 points. I don’t think they are overrated. Inconsistent Is more applicable.
I have nothing for Kentucky, that was just bad. But in 2018 #1 seed Virginia lost to UMBC by 20 and then won the title in 2019.

I suspect the SEC is as overrated is it is possible to be. ESECPN has not been a sports news channel for a long time now. ESECPN sunk their money into the SEC and B1G and they are now the marketing department for where their money is invested. If propaganda didn’t work, no one would try it. But, since endlessly bombarding an audience with a repetitive message is a proven effective strategy to influence opinion…….we get ESECPN.
Sports reporting now comes with a strategy….and it’s the same strategy as a sham-wow infomercial.

Happened with the run of national titles in football. They have certainly reaped the benefit financially of ESPN's investment but it was money well spent by them bc the sec is probably the most rabid sports conference there is. The big ten is probably right there with them and notice that they make insane amounts of money too.
Our fanbase gets so bent out of shape bc we are a sec sportslike school stuck in a basketball and academics heavy conference.
Several schools in our conference have pathetic and small fanbases. ..only vandy has that in the sec.

(now 14) including some bad ones like Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and UGA who finished 10th, 11th, 12th, and 14th in the SEC. When they lost to UGA, it broke an 8 game losing streak for the Bulldogs, who then followed that win with a 12 game losing streak. Talk about a big letdown from football season.
