All the consternation about conferences and tv money is just far fetched. If tv money was the most important factor in football, there would be smaller schools dropping football. Schools like Clemson and Florida State that I keep seeing mentioned on this site have plenty of money and have the facilities to show for it.
As far as NIL goes, it will take care of itself and had absolutely zero effect on football last season and will not change anything this year. NIL is available for all athletes and is not the poison pill that will kill sports in college.

What specifically don't you get? There will eventually be a group of 40-60 college football programs who will be the top money recipients from tv contracts. It is important to be in that group to sustain a competitive balance for Clemson with these schools. 35 million sounds like a lot until the teams you're competing against are making 85-100 million. Eventually the difference in money catches up.

of 40-50 teams that will be within the big tv contracts/big Pay-for-Play (NIL) league that, if their honest about it, which they probably won't be, is the professional or semi-professional college football league.
Then their will be the rest of the D1 teams in the country that aren't invited to the semi-pro league.
