10 million dollars and can be used by the football team when inclement weather prevents them from practicing outdoors. Clemson football makes around a 7 million dollar profit each year, so the new facility can be paid for in less than 2 years. The new indoor practice facility for basketball is expected to cost 40 million dollars and can be used by the basketball team when they are tired of practicing in the other 60 million dollar indoor facility they already have. Clemson basketball (men and women combined) makes about (-) 2 million in profit, so their facility should be paid for never. If only the men’s basketball team profits are used, men's basketball makes about 1 million in profit per year, they should be able to pay for the new facility in about 40 years.

Sports do not pay for themselves or football would be the only sport. The Athletic Department and donors pay for sports making your post moot.

facility costs roughly 3 million per player, whereas the football facility costs about 23k per player.
As I said in a previous post, I believe it is necessary to hire a private equity firm to run an audit of the AD's budget and streamline things a bit. I imagine they would come to the same conclusions as the rest of us.

I’ve been saying the basketball program needs a state-of-the-art outdoor practice facility for years. That way they wouldn’t have to be so restricted to their indoor facility when the weather is nice, it would be a great way to attract talented hoopers who are more comfortable playing on outdoor courts, and it’s considerably less expensive to construct and maintain than a brick-and-mortar building. As long as they hang signs that say “do not hang on rims” and don’t use nets, the courts should hold up fairly well in this climate. It’s a no-brainer.

Gymnastics will be setting up in and using Littlejohn for events. So both basketball teams will need somewhere to practice. And using your logic — with indoor football paid for use some of profits to pay for basketball facility.
