Disappointed in the fans last night

Feb 9, 2022, 9:32 AM

for not giving the refs an earful on that last foul call on Hall. Us ol' boys under the basket would have really raised a fuss back in the day.

Of course, I tried to convey my thoughts to that ref from my couch last night, but I don't think the message got through.

You are correct, the fans should have been all over that ref. If was a clear and simple case of a "get even" call for the previous foul on UNC seconds before. First of all, it wasn't even is area of the court where it happened, in his position, he should have been watching the outside left side of the floor, that was the Ref under the basket's area of responsibility and he was looking directly at the play and let it go. But how many years have UNC and DUKE both gotten all the calls against most everyone in the league, even on the road. It's simply the ACC protecting their 2 elite teams and helping them to have better records and getting to the NCAA's.....

Was a bad call but they made a bad one on their big guy also. All in all, I felt refs were more than usual when playing NC

Wouldn't do any good. The referee's have been instructed from day one to do whatever is necessary, whenever possible to make calls that favor either UNC ,or Duke. It's sort of like the tuck rule in football. Do whatever is necessary to insure that these two schools come away with a win whenever, especially in a close game and especially in a year where neither school is not guaranteed 100% of winning some of those close games because their talent level might not be up to par as in the past.
Think I'm wrong. Look at the Duke game at Cameron last week, and then make certain to follow the game closely tomorrow at Littlejohn.

It was clearly a make-up call...

which is just one more reason to totally despise ACC officiating.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

It’s all BBS fault. He should have never selected that team of referees in a game involving the Heels! It’s not like it was the first time so he should retire and maybe we can bring in a big time coach who will make sure the Tigers get more breaks during a game. At this Brownell isn’t very good. In fact, I have been attending Clemson basketball games for more than SIXTY years and I can’t recall my team ever getting a break in a game involving UNC and several others. Ask coach Barnes what he thinks about this. He was a great hire for the Tigers but he saw quickly what the ACC is composed of! Five on five games are tough enough when you play good teams. Five on seven or eight are especially difficult. AND it ain’t gonna change. Regardless of the coach that YOU hire.

That's good to know. The commentators did say it was loud at times, but it just sounded like at that last foul that the entire crowd just instantly shut up. It was probably the audio - as others mentioned there was definitely a UNC fan near the mic that you heard the entire broadcast.
