Read an article yesterday...

Nov 11, 2021, 9:42 AM

where the commissioner of the AAC was complaining that the CFP committee was treating Cincinnati unfairly and unduly pressuring them to obliterate all of their opponents.

While I realize margin of victory is not supposed to be a consideration for the pollsters, if your strength of schedule ranking is well outside the top 100, I do think you have to earn some style points as opposed to simply eking out narrow wins against what are largely considered to be inferior opponents.

What say ye !?!?!?

I saw them at the Windjammer in '98. I got so loaded on Jello shots that I ended up in Kevin Spacy's motel room and do not remember a thing.

Don’t worry. Happened to many of us back in the day with Kevin. You are not alone.

They beat much ballyhooed ND didnt they? Keep winning and that is good enough for me. Can't have it both ways with ND- the be all and end all but then no credit for beating them.

What performance from ND shows that they are worthy of being called a season defining win for Cincinnati?

In fairness...

Nov 11, 2021, 10:37 AM

the BeeBee Heads are 8-1 and ranked 9th nationally. Notre Dame is a solid team and Cincinnati did beat them in South Bend which is definitely a resume builder. That said, I don't think it's enough. Their strength of schedule ranking is still well outside the top 100 which is bad by all accounts. There are plenty of one loss teams who are more deserving of being the CFP than an unbeaten Cincinnati IMO based on schedule alone.

Have to agree with TigerO. ND is not the ND of last year. They've been ekking out wins against inferior talent.

What got Cincy up there early (imo) was everyone thought Indiana was going to have a better year than last year. Indy was an anomaly last year.

Good point, #8 nd, at nd sounds like a quality win to me. Keep in mind they don't have a quality loss yet. Looking at their schedule, I don't see a team that can give them a quality loss. Too bad they can't trade out SMU for Miss St.

It is very disappointing the "jockeying" for rankings after

Nov 11, 2021, 10:41 AM

the CFP has been around since 2014. Haven't people figured this out yet? The first weeks are done for television ratings. There is no need to watch the rankings until you get to the championship games. Cincy is in a great place now because they are at #5 and all they have to do is win and watch everyone else beat each other.

Clemson has taken some flack over the years because the ACC is perceived as a weak conference overall, but at no point in time has Clemson's SOS ranking been outside the top 100. Not even close in fact.

they are always on the bench because you need to keep your starters in to tromp a weaker opponent? How do you keep your starters healthy if they are spending every game always on the field? Is it short term thinking which causes people to destroy what they are building?

People who do stuff like that wake up in a new world every day.

I’m not sure they look at margin of victory , but rather how in control of the game are you. If you get up a couple touchdowns and maintain that margin you are in control. Cincinnati has not been in control for all of their games.
