Merger ACC and PAC 12 with ND and 4 Big 12 schools ….. create a new conference name.

Seems crazy at first but this allows ND still play USC and Stanford.
You could play your 7 team division then create some other great matchups made for TV.
Southern CAL at Clemson etc

I know travel terrible all that but none of that matters much anymore. It is about the product and brands you have for the TV contracts.

To really spice it up… have 4 game conference “playoff”….. west v southwest division winners play and then the winner players winner of northeast v southeast matchup for conference title.

May mean only 10 game regular season games and loss of some rivalry games for some but it is an arms race and the options for ACC are limited if ND refuses to join. This would force their hand and create some great national matchups will also having regional games for easier fan travel etc

If the ACC wanted to go for broke then go to a 16 team conference by picking up Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and ND, giving up Louisville & Syracuse.

Then just split the conference somewhat regionally but honoring Notre Dame's previous independence to put them in the south to better equally weight the divisions and give you a legitimate 3 schools consistently competing every year for the division crown.

North:
- Ohio State
- Michigan
- Penn State
- Pittsburg
- UVA
- Va Tech
- Boston College

South:
- Clemson
- Notre Dame
- UNC
- NC State
- Ga Tech
- FSU
- Miami
- Wake Forest

This would honor the biggest Big 10 existing rivalries, still keep some academic tradition in the conference and not just help with Football either. It's a pipe dream at this point but if you want to go for broke that's what I'd do.

I actually like mich, oh state , penn state but not ND… hear me out… maybe add one of the big 12 schools like okl state or baylor… if there was a chance of ND joining in football that went even lower of a probability IMO when we decided on a 12 team playoff bc now conference champ or affiliation doesn’t matter near as much if at all. If I was the new acc commissioner I’d go after two big time programs and leave ND out to dry… or the 4 like you mentioned but if keep Louisville and drop Wake instead … they add absolutely no value to the conference

Play one conference semifinal in LA and the other in Charlotte.

Seriously, I do like it....sucks to lose some regional games...but, they don't much matter anymore, unless vs a bigger name (SEC)....unless we lose of course....then it absolutely matters.
